Manchester City to surprise this year?
Well, they have a real coach, and they have some talent now, are they going to surprise this season?
Discuss.......

They could challenge for Europe but to be honest I can't see them getting there this season.

They be good enough for top half, I think scoring more then 10goals at home, which they would be over the moon with.

They will be a outsiders this season along with teams like Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham.City is still in progress in reinforcing the team and the team will look even more better before kick off of Premiership season.

Yes and no.
They have (so far) signed 6 new players, have lots of money behind them and a new manager with a very good reputation at club level. People will be expecting them to do well.
They may well surprise in as much as they are an unknown commodity and nobody really has any idea on how well they'll do this season.

3 new signings today. Definetley splashing the cash.
Depends how quickly and if all these new signings settle quickly.
Should do well though as Sven is a good coach. There home form should be alot better which will help a great deal.

I'd be absolutely amazed if Sven can organise this rather disparate group of individuals into a team that competes for a European spot.

I just wonder if Erikson has benn playing a lot of football manager 2007 over the break from the national team. If you ask any player for a hot tipp who to buy you will certainly hear the names bojinov, corluka and Elano....

^ so true.
The defence was actually good last year, they went the longest out of all the teams in the league without conceding at home from the start of the league.
But they had the worst goalscoring record in Premiership history
I think Sven will definitely have them climbing the table, but I don't think he'll quite reach Europe, EVERYONE has spent this summer, so all the teams around, above and below City have strengthened so anything can happen...

Their new signings seem to be helping. Bianchi and Geovanni scoring both goals vs West Ham. Elano was my favourite player though. Delivered a nice assist to Bianchi after beating the defender. For £8m, they got a bargain.
