Valeri Bojinov’s future remains uncertain after the wantaway Fiorentina hitman’s agent admitted there had been no Serie A offers.

The 21-year-old Bulgarian came to attention during his time with Lecce under Zdenek Zeman before moving to the Stadio Artemio Franchi in January 2005 for around £9m.

Bojinov has rarely had a chance to shine in a Viola shirt and spent last season on loan with Juventus where he hit five goals in 18 Serie B appearances.

With the arrival of Christian Vieri, Bojinov’s task of prising a shirt away from Giampaolo Pazzini or Adrian Mutu looks even more daunting, but there seem to be few other options.

“There isn’t likely to be space at Fiorentina,” admitted representative Gerry Palomba on Naples’ Radio Kiss Kiss. “I’ve met with Napoli director Pierpaolo Marino, but we didn’t discuss Valeri.

“I can also confirm that I haven’t discussed him with Torino’s director general Stefano Antonelli, but in football you can never say never.”

City move for Bojinov

Manchester City are understood to have lodged a bid with Fiorentina for Valeri Bojinov.

Sven Goran Eriksson has already signed one Bulgarian in the shape of Martin Petrov and now he is hoping to add another.

Eriksson is desperately trying to re-shape City's squad before the transfer window closes and has added four new faces so far, but he could add up to ten more within the next month.

Bojinov has now emerged as a target with Italian reports claiming a bid was lodged on Monday with Fiorentina.

The Florence club are now considering the bid, but look likely to let the 21-year-old open talks with City.

Bojinov spent last season on-loan at Juventus, but they have decided against taking up their option on him and Fiorentina have since made the striker available for transfer.

City agree Bojinov deal

Manchester City have struck a £5.7million deal with Fiorentina for Valeri Bojinov, according to reports in Italy.

The Bulgarian striker spent last season on loan at Juventus but only made a handful of appearances and was not offered a full-time contract.

He is not looking to return to Fiorentina and admits a move to the Premier League would be ideal.

"I hope I never have to come back to Fiorentina again," Bojinov told Gazzetta dello Sport before flying home to Bulgaria with his agent at the weekend.

"England would be a perfect solution."

City are understood to have lodged a bid with Viola earlier this week and it now appears a deal is in place.

Sven Goran Eriksson has been working hard to strengthen his squad since being appointed as City boss and has already brought in four new faces.

As well as Bojinov's Bulgarian compatriot Martin Petrov, Eriksson has also signed Rolando Bianchi, Gelson Fernandes and Geovanni.
