City wait on Juve duo
Quote:
Skysports.com understands Manchester City are waiting to find out if Juventus are willing to sell duo Giorgio Chiellini and Manuele Blasi.
City are believed to be chasing the Italian duo as Sven Goran Eriksson looks to reshape his squad at Eastlands. Italian Under 21 international Chiellini is believed to be considering his future at Juventus as he is concerned about his first-team chances with the Bianconeri.
Blasi's position at Juventus also remains uncertain with the midfielder having returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina last season.
Eriksson is keen to bring in some new faces before the start of the new season and he sees the duo as key additions to his squad.
The agent of both players, Davide Lippi, has revealed City are interested in the pair and that he is meeting with Juventus to find out what their plans are for the duo.
"I am planning to meet Juventus on Tuesday to discuss the futures of Giorgio and Manuele," Lippi told skysports.com.
"Manchester City are interested in both players and I am going to meet Juventus to see if these moves are possible.
"Both players would be happy to play in the Premier League and Manchester City, but it all depends on Juventus.
"They both like English football and the fact Eriksson is there would be a big factor for them to go there. "However it depends on the price and whether Juventus want to sell them or not."

Blasi is definitely leaving.
Selling Chiellini would be a step backwards by Juve.

Y? Look at the prices some players in the prem are getting.
Spurs paid £5M + bonuses for Bale, who is only 18. Chiellini is a better lb with more experience. £7M at the least.

Man City closing in on Chiellini
Quote:
Manchester City hope to agree a £7m deal to sign Juventus' Italy Under-21 captain Georgio Chiellini within days, BBC Sport understands.
Boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has turned his attentions to the powerful defender after signing Martin Petrov from Atletico Madrid in a £4.7m transfer.
Chiellini, 22, also has six full caps and is highly-regarded in Italy.
Eriksson may face late competition from Liverpool if they fail to sign Manchester United's Gabriel Heinze.
City hope to add two more new signings to their recent captures within the next week, with Olympiakos' Mexico striker Nery Castillo also understood to be on Eriksson's list.
Chiellini played against England in the inaugural game at the new Wembley last season, and also figured against Stuart Pearce's side in the recent European Under-21 Championship in Holland.

Ranieri:
Quote:
“Will Chiellini return to Turin after this tour? It depends on Juve, him and Manchester City,” conceded Ranieri.
“He is an important player for Juve, but if he wants to leave, then we will let him go.”

Juve reject City Chiellini bid
Quote:
Manchester City have failed in their bid to land Giorgio Chiellini, with the Italian club's president having confirmed that an initial offer has been rejected.
The Italy Under 21 international has emerged as Sven Goran Eriksson's latest target in what has been a lavish summer of spending at Manchester City.
Cash-rich City have left no stone unturned in their bid to improve their playing staff and it is expected Eriksson will add a number of fresh faces to the four new signings he has already completed.
Chiellini has made no secret of his desire to quit the Turin giants for England, with his agent reiterating his client's intent on Monday.
However, while Juve initially stated that they would not stand in the way of any deal should Chiellini wish to move, it would appear they have had a change of heart.
City could well return to Juventus with an improved offer, but for now, club president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli is refusing to sell.
"Our position is not to accept Man City's offer for Chiellini," said Gigli. "The player remains in our plans."

Sven Goran Eriksson is willing to meet Juventus' massive asking price for defender Giorgio Chiellini.Eriksson is willing to go as high as £10 million for the Italy U21 captain, well aware that the player now has his heart set on moving to England.
