England defender Micah Richards has been linked with making the unlikely and hugely controversial switch across Manchester from City to United.
The teenager, who has fast-tracked his way into the international set-up during his first full season in the first team, has previously been linked with Chelsea and was reportedly a subject of offers in the January transfer window.
United will struggle to win the race to sign Richards, who increasingly may be becoming too big a player for Manchester City to keep, due to the rivalry between the two clubs.
It would be massively disappointing for the supporters to see their star asset leave for their local rivals, but the location may well suit the 18-year-old and his family.
A source close to Richards said: "There is interest from United, but whether anything happens is another thing given the rivalry in Manchester."
If he was to sign for the Reds he would be only the third City player to do so in the last 70 years.
