News in the UK suggested that LA might try to get him there before the season starts in a couple of months.

The MLS is a major step down in footballing terms but good on Beckham. $1m a week.

It would be great if he can start the season for Los Angeles. He'd be missing 3 months if he started in July and alot of people who are fans of other teams wouldn't be able to see him if the Galaxy play them at their stadium prior to his July arrival.

Beckham reaffirms Madrid commitmentJan 13 2007

David Beckham has insisted he will "continue to give his full commitment and professionalism" to Real Madrid after the Spanish club's manager Fabio Capello announced the former England captain would not play again this season.

Capello ruled out a return to the Madrid first team for Beckham following confirmation of the midfielder's move to LA Galaxy at the end of his contract in Spain.

But Simon Oliveira, Beckham's representative, told PA Sport: "As far as David is aware he has a contract for the remainder of the season and remains dedicated to the club and its supporters."

He added: "David is surprised at the quotes from Fabio Capello and nobody from the club has informed him of their intentions.

"He will continue to give his full commitment and professionalism to the club."

million a week? thats unbelieveable. surely cant be that much.

No denying he is a good player, but thats all he is.

he has done well in the game for being an average player.

Best part of his game is dead ball situations.

Yep. Sky Sports were reporting it all day Thursday. $1m per week which works out at £492k per week.

I think they said the average MLS player makes $100,000 PER YEAR. It really is an astonishing deal. [Worth $250m over 5 years]

I think it includes his image rights so Galaxy will make a whack out of merchandising and all the media deals.
