David Beckham has insisted he will "continue to give his full commitment and professionalism" to Real Madrid after the Spanish club's manager Fabio Capello announced the former England captain would not play again this season.

Capello ruled out a return to the Madrid first team for Beckham following confirmation of the midfielder's move to LA Galaxy at the end of his contract in Spain.

But Simon Oliveira, Beckham's representative, told PA Sport: "As far as David is aware he has a contract for the remainder of the season and remains dedicated to the club and its supporters."

He added: "David is surprised at the quotes from Fabio Capello and nobody from the club has informed him of their intentions.

"He will continue to give his full commitment and professionalism to the club."

Yep. Sky Sports were reporting it all day Thursday. $1m per week which works out at £492k per week.

I think they said the average MLS player makes $100,000 PER YEAR. It really is an astonishing deal. [Worth $250m over 5 years]
