I agree because while I like Beckham alot and he will help the league big time from a business and exposure POV, his game won't wow the average fan, they won't appreciate his skills, they won't understand how good he actually is but that won't be a problem with Ronaldo, it's easy to see, understand and appreciate his skill of putting the ball in the back of the net.

My bet is on number 7. The only reason he has 23 at Real Madrid is because Raul had the rights to the number 7 written in his contract. Also, Beckham wore 7 for England in the World Cup.

Yeah but he did wear 7 for the national team so its not like he changed it completely.

Kobe Bryant is a huge soccer fan and played and is/was quite talented how can you not when you a freak athlete like he is. But he spend many years in Europe with his Dad playing pro basketball oversee's and he earned a real appreciation for the sport.

Becks and Kobe might be new best friends. I could see it happening. Beckham seems to be a fan of basketball as well, he took the number 23 at Real Madrid because he was a fan of Michael Jordan. We might be able to see him along side Jack Nicholson at the Laker games.

Well, the bulk of that money is going to be coming from his merchandising.

Secondly, a number of sports leagues in North America employ that system Russell.

I don't think the players will mind too much to be honest.

To the greater picture, I'm not at all convinced that Beckham will push football over the top in North America. I think that will come in due time, but they will always play second fiddle to the NFL, MLB and the NBA to a certain extent.

The main goal now for them is too get a major television contract with a network. Something that will be hard to do.
