Alex Rodriguez get's 252 million dollars but during a 10 year deal, compare to the 5 year deal

In the end I think this is a good deal as it will help US soccer take some more steps foward into the average american sports fans mind.
This deal is about exposer, to get the attion of the american people and soccer players around the world that the US is starting to take soccer serious and as the MLS gets more excepted by the average american sports fan which in turn will make them more money that they will spend to make the league one of the best.

Adidas league?
I taught many of the team wear Nike but you are correct the majority are using adidas

It's an exciting day for all MLS fans and it's not because I think that Beckham is a great player. With all the MLS team having or in the process of building new stadiums it only proves that Soccer is here to stay. The MLS clubs have invested tons of money into new stadiums and expect to get their money back. The way they are going to get it back by bringing some of the best stars while at the same time building their youth systems.

Yes and they said that the $250m was everything(all his deals over the 5 years during his years in the MLS) and that his salary is only 1/5 of the $250m. So that makes his deal 5 years for $50m or $10m per season and that comes know where near Arod's 10 year $252 that pays him roughly $25m per season and that doesn't count Arod endorsement deals which are quite high but not not in the Beckham range.

He's only getting $50m total from MLS/Galaxy the other is from already existing endorsement deals. No one in there right mind would pay any player $50m per season.

I think there will be deal done soon that will see Ronaldo with the RBNY for a similar deal as Beckham for around $10m per season.

That's amazing. He's already paying off for the MLS. I cant wait to see the ratings for his first match.

I don't see Zizou playing again and if he did it would be one and done. Ronaldo will play will be with the Red Bulls in '08.

Ronaldo will be the real star in the MLS...Everyone gets on him for his weight, but fail to remember that Puskas also had a weight problem and still was one of the greatest footballers that ever played..

He will help the MLS alot from a business POV. This move will help soccer move farther along within consciousness of the average american sport fan which will contunue to push the sport farther along here and eventually it will be the norm with the other major sports that we have here in North America, this just speeds up the process.
