I think becks is going to make a difference...i dont think every North American is going to start watching soccer next week...but his signing is just the begining i think...he is deff i think going to at least double the amount of watchers of TS...Its not that people in NA dont like soccer...its just that MLS can be boring and not as skillful as other world soccer...becks is going to draw alot of those people to games and draw them to watch on tv...his presence alone is going to make the leauge alot of money and bring them alot of media attention which is going to make the sport appeal to alot more people here...and his signing may bring others of his quality from eurpoe to NA to play even if its for nothing more then the money. This is prolly the best thing that has ever happened to MLS

It's being reported that he might miss the first game.
I cannot believe how much money he will receive. He better contribute or else he will let down alot of fans.

I doubt Becks will miss the game. The last thing you want to do is make the fans disapointed.

Lalas on Beckham international duty
For a soccer player, representing one's country is a distinct honor and privilege. It's also a responsibility. When a player is called to play for his country it's a wonderful statement as to not only the quality of the individual but also the club team for which he plays. In recent months David Beckham has been called to represent England in their quest for a place in the 2008 European Championships. We anticipate that these call-ups will continue after his arrival to the Galaxy, and as a result, he may miss certain games during the latter half of the 2007 season. We know LA Galaxy fans are eager to see David Beckham play, and we're working to insure that he is available for as many games as possible.
Below is a list of dates when David Beckham could be called in to represent England. FIFA mandates that players are released during these times, and the LA Galaxy will support David's continued involvement with the England National Team. Keep in mind that we will not be informed of a call-up until a few weeks before each game.
As MLS continues to attract more international talent, we must also accept that these players will represent their respective countries. International duty is a unique element of professional soccer and emphasizes that we are part of a global game.
I'd like to thank you for your continued support of the LA Galaxy and join you in looking forward to seeing David and all our internationals together as a team this July.

The Galaxy don't need much help if you think about it...Look at their game difference and add up the points if they win their needed games.

True....but that's only if they win the 4 games in hand, then they will be at 25 points. Lose a couple and they are still in the same boat.

You are right on about that but I think they will win the majority of them and if they don't then I take it they are going to be in deep deep last.

This proves my point -- he is an attraction, and only here to promote the game.
David Beckham meets Yankees, Blue Jays in Toronto
Soccer star David Beckham and his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates were guests of the Toronto Blue Jays for Monday afternoon's game against the New York Yankees and got a tour of both clubhouses before the game.
Beckham, who missed his scheduled Major League Soccer debut in a 0-0 tie against Toronto FC Sunday night due to a sore left ankle, walked through the Blue Jays' clubhouse about an hour before game time, signing a few autographs and chatting briefly with outfielder Vernon Wells.
He was joined by a handful of teammates including Joe Cannon, Landon Donovan and Abel Xavier.
From there, Beckham walked across the field as the Yankees finished batting practice, stopping to speak with manager Joe Torre and posing for pictures with bench coach Don Mattingly.
