Reds linked with keeper

Quote:
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is being linked with a raid on old club Valencia for goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle.

Reports emanating from France claim Liverpool are pondering a move for the former Metz ace.

Benitez is a big admirer of the Frenchman having signed him while he was in charge at Valencia before moving onto Liverpool.

Butelle has struggled to establish himself at Valencia with Santiago Canizares the number one goalkeeper at La Mestalla.

Liverpool could be in the market for a new goalkeeper with Chris Kirkland having sealed his permanent move to Wigan last month.

There are also doubts over the long-term futures of Scott Carson and Jerzy Dudek at Anfield.

Carson is currently on loan at Charlton, while Dudek is thought to be frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities.

Benitez might turn to Butelle to bolster his goalkeeping options if he decides to let Dudek or Carson leave.

Cisse set for comeback

Quote:
Djibril Cisse is ready to bounce back from his broken leg this month and pen a permanent deal at Marseille.

The 25-year-old is on loan at l'OM from Liverpool, although he will pen a permanent deal at the Stade Velodrome once he has proved his fitness - and hopes that is very soon.

Cisse is putting his injury problems of recent times, which have seen him break both legs in less than a two-year period, down to just 'bad luck'.

"I don't feel I am cursed, it is bad luck, just destiny," he said.

"I should resume competition exactly like after my first injury, mid-November.

"I never doubted I would be back playing football and I never imagined giving up. I love the sport too much.

"I love challenges. I want to put l'OM as high as possible. I know I will be back to my best level.

"After my first injury I needed one month of competition to recover to my full abilities. It should be the same this time.

"I have certain a level to show, things to bring. Not necessarily considering pace and efficiency as we already have those qualities, but something eccentric. I have to bring some panache."

Cisse is hopeful the two clubs can soon strike a deal for his services - which seems likely according to reports in France.

"Will I go back to Liverpool? It is not for sure. Remaining at l'OM? Why not, if it goes on smoothly, and if the clubs could find an agreement," he added.

Cisse refuses to rule out Liverpool return

Quote:
As the French international prepares to make his first appearance for temporary club Marseille since breaking his leg in the summer, he admits there is a chance his stay in France could last just the length of his loan spell.

"Will I go back to Liverpool? It is not for sure. Remaining at l'OM? Why not, if it goes on smoothly, and if the clubs could find an agreement," said the 25-year-old Cisse.

The former Auxerre man never really hit it off at Anfield under new manager Rafael Benitez, who was prepared to offload him to Marseille on a permanent basis before injury struck him down.

Agent: 'Benitez could quit Liverpool'

Quote:
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez could quit the Anfield hotseat for a post abroad, according to his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon.

The 46-year-old Spaniard has continually reiterated his commitment to the Merseysiders, despite regular speculation linking him with a possible move elsewhere.

Benitez guided Liverpool to Champions League glory in May 2005, at the end of his first season in charge.

Ipswich eye loan move for Liverpool midfielder

Quote:
Jim Magilton is set to bring Danny Guthrie to Portman Road

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder made his Liverpool debut against Reading in the League Cup recently and is keen for a loan move in order to get more first-team experience.

Mark Noble is set to return to West Ham United shortly and Guthrie is seen as an ideal replacement.

Source: http://www.fansfc.com

Guthrie have claimed he wants some more first team experience and a loan deal is interesting.I think Liverpool is willing to let him go on loan.

I think it's inevitable Benitez will go to a bigger club, he's proved his worth at lesser clubs like Valencia and Liverpool, the natural course of action would be to join a Real Madrid, Inter or AC Milan.

Liverpool dismiss Benitez report

Quote:
Liverpool have played down reports linking their manager Rafael Benitez with a move away from Anfield.
Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon was quoted in The Sun as saying the Spaniard "will certainly consider" an offer from a club in Italy.

Quilon added: "Benitez is a coach ideally suited to Italy. In this case, he could even leave Liverpool."

But a Liverpool spokeswoman told BBC Sport: "The manager has made it clear that he is very happy at the club."

Benitez signed a new contract at Anfield in the summer, which ties him to the Premiership giants until 2010.

The 46-year-old joined Liverpool from Valencia in 2004 and has since won the Champions League and the FA Cup.

Liverpool boss Benitez: We won't sell Dudek

Quote:
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says selling goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek isn't on the agenda.
"He is a good goalkeeper, very professional and he deserves to have a little bit of luck," said Benitez.

"We have spoken since the start of the season about his situation. We knew when the transfer window closed that he needed to do as well as he can here. He was been working very hard.

"We are not thinking about selling him at the moment. For me and for him, the most important thing is to be focused on games and try to show people he is fit and is a really good goalkeeper."

Reds draw Arsenal in Carling Cup

Quote:
Liverpool have been drawn at home to Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Carling Cup.
Liverpool travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to face the Gunners in the Premiership and now both sides will meet again before Christmas to determine who progresses to the semi-finals of a competition Rafael benitez has yet to win.

Liverpool were beaten finalists by Chelsea during Rafa's first season in England and despite fielding a young team so far in the competition, the Reds boss will be hoping his side can go on to lift their second piece of silverware for the season in the new year.

The full draw is as follows:

Liverpool v Arsenal
Newcastle v Chelsea
Tottenham v Southend
Charlton v Wycombe

When Reina don't have deliever what's expected from a goalkeeper in this level then someone else deserves a chance.Dudek's contract expires in next summer and deserve one last chance to prove his worth a new contract. He have so much experience now and all learns from their mistakes.I think with his experience and routine he will give the defense more safety. The defence have not been at the best quality this season because you can see their trust in Reina isn't what it use to be.This is all because of Reina struggling to dominate inside the goalkeeper area.
