Fans to make 'pool takeover bid
US tycoons George Gillett and Tom Hicks recently finalised a £350m refinancing of the club which they bought in 2007.
But the Share Liverpool FC Group is to reveal plans for a buy-out of the club by 100,000 Reds fans around the world.
The model proposed will be a Barcelona style "member-share" scheme aimed at raising £500m to purchase the club from its US owners and build a new stadium.
As well as UK-based fans, a website with the address Share Liverpool FC, will be launched to attract interest from Liverpool's supporter base around the world.
Culture, media and sport secretary Andy Burnham, a fan of city rivals Everton, called the proposal "a fascinating development".
He told the BBC that it would "be really important to see how it works".

They do realise that that's 5.000 pounds per person? That's gonna be very difficult

Not really!
100 000 people around the world?
It's not like the are all going to pay 5.000 each...some will probably put in 100.000 etc.
I'd be less worried about collecting the money and more worried about how the club would be run and who would actually be in charge...

I was talking about the avarage
Among those 100.000 people, there will most definately be people who can run the club well

Won't happen, and thank the fucking lord for that.
It's bad enough with two clueless pricks running the club, let alone 100,000.
We should be careful what we wish for.

George Gillett is a smart man, and he in my opinion is a desirable owner, in that he is hands off. I don't know about the other guy.
I just know a lot about George and his dealings with other operations.
I personally would rather have one rich dude owning the club, than have a "board".

Liverpool can also copy what two of the biggest and most successful football clubs all time have done, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
IMO the best way to run a club.
All the members of the club with a limit are electing a President who will have the responsibility over the club. Of course many different candidates and the majority decides who will have the charge.
For example;
Mighty T.A.L - If I get President I will bring in Jager as manager and Pennywise as Director of football. I will also buy Mancini, Aaron lennon and bring back Owen from N'castle. I want to do that and that with the economy and the club, bla bla bla...

I 100% agree, the only objection against that is that the candidates make promises they cannot fulfill, just because they want to win votes. That aside, i think it's the ideal way to run a club.

It is!
Look at Madrid,
All the income goes right to the clubs account ready to be used..and not to shareholders or rich uncles. Everything they use like stadium, training ground, transport (airplane, bus) etc are owned by the club.
With this system, Madrid have always be able to bring in the best footballers in the world on big sums like they did with Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, Becks, Robinho, etc..
Real democracy and the majority rules.
Of course, Madrid is bigger than Liverpool generally, but I think the fans had enjoyed to choose which President they had wanted to run the club.

I disagree.
The best way is the true method of having one rich tycoon who doesn't meddle in the club, and hires a football person to run all operations.
Boards in themselves are prone to making misguided judgements. Bringing up Real Madrid is not very good, since I really don't think they have been run well.
They make one smart move, then make moves that make no sense.
