EPL: Chelsea v Liverpool (10.02.08)
Reds must manage without Torres
Quote:
Liverpool will be without six key players against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with striker Fernando Torres the biggest blow.
The Spaniard has a hamstring injury and will also miss the FA Cup fifth round home tie with Barnsley next weekend.
Liverpool are targeting the Champions League clash with Inter Milan on February 19 for his return.
Andriy Voronin, Fabio Aurelio, Alvaro Arbeloa and Daniel Agger are all long term injury victims while Xabi Alonso is suspended.
Ryan Babel picked up an ankle injury playing for Holland on Wednesday making him a doubt.
Provisional squad: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Riise, Pennant, Mascherano, Gerrard, Babel, Benayoun, Kewell, Lucas, Crouch, Kuyt, Itandje.

I am confident of a Chelsea win, it's at stamford bridge, liverpool on poor form, no Torres, no Babel, only Gerrard. If Essien is fit and plays a good game then he won't be much of a threat either.

It's going to be a 1-0 win. Liverpool don't score much without Torres.

Essien has the 3rd vs. 4th of the ACN on Saturday so I doubt he will be back by Sunday and be ready to play.
We should win this...Lampard should be back and without Torres I can only see Gerrard scoring if they do. BTW mascherano might not play either because he is coming back on saturday from a friendly with Argentina and might be too tired.
We need to win this to stay in contact with the top 2

Liverpool can only hope for one point but I doubt they can manage.

This game ended like all feared. A boring 0-0 draw. I think Liverpool did a good performance but shame they didn't created a bit more chances. This was a good opportunity to be the first team who has beaten Chelsea at the bridge on 4 years and Liverpool failed also like all other teams. These two teams know each other too good and the way they play it always become a close game. I don't think any of the teams deserved more than one point so it ended fair.
