CL: Liverpool 4-1 Porto (28.11.07)
Quote:
Liverpool tackle Porto on Anfield in a must-win game for last season's runners-up if they want to make the last 16 of this season's UEFA Champions League.
The Reds need to win both their final two group games, to have any real chance of progressing to the knockout stages after a slow start to their campaign.
There is sure to be fervent atmosphere at Anfield with Liverpool fans planning to show their support for Rafa Benitez as doubts continue to surround the long-term future of the Spanish tactician.
Porto, who lead Group A will qualify for the knockout stages if they win at Anfield, but a point would also be good enough for qualification if Marseille avoid defeat against Besiktas in the other game in the group.
Javier Mascherano is expected to be restored to the Liverpool starting XI after being rested against Newcastle last weekend.
Yossi Benayoun is fit again after recovering from a foot injury and he will hoping for a recall after scoring a hat-trick in his last game against Besiktas.
Daniel Agger, Jermaine Pennant and Xabi Alonso are still sidelined for the home side.
Porto go into the game in a good run of form as they still unbeaten in this season's Champions League and their own domestic league.
Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira has close to a full-strength squad available as the Portuguese side go in search of their first victory on English soil.

The Mirror says in an outpouring of emotional support for the Liverpool manager, up to 5,000 supporters will stage a rally before the Champions League clash with Porto, protesting against Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

LISANDRO LOPEZ!! wow what a goal!
great match of lopez and lucho!
it was an excellent match to watch, especially after porto's goal.
Benayoun was very good. IMO the best in liverpool. congrats to torres for his first CL goal, but he wasn't great today, missed one great chance and took poor decisions.
looking forward to the second half

it is 4-1 mate. torres scored 2, gerrard 1, crouch 1. lisandro lopez for porto.
excellent second half of liverpool.
great goal of El Nino Torres!!
btw, the penalty wasn't a right decision because hyypia was pulling the defender (who got sent off as a result).
Marsellei - Liverpool next MD! can't wait.

Helton is a real shite goalkeeper. If Porto had a decent goalkeeper then the result would have been something different. Liverpool wasn't on their best yesterday and still they won 4-1... Porto was a dissapoinment when it comes to defend. Liverpool need to win against Marseille or this group will have a surprising result of the table at the end.

After quite possibly the most blatant penalty of the season (not!)
Once it was 3-1, the players just quit on the continuing to look for a goal. You were lucky enough not to concede the 2nd goal right after our 1st goal, but Lisandro missed that absolute sitter.. We were crap in the second half, thanks to our coach and his brilliant subs.
Overall I think Liverpool deserved to win, you wanted it more than us, but 4-1 does not reflect what happened on the pitch, not at all. 2-1 would be the correct score
