He's been outstanding this season in nearly every game. His goals tally is fantastic but his work-rate and willingness to lead the line have been more impressive. He showed he can score left-foot, right-foot, header, you name it, he did it. There can't be many players that would have compiled such a wonderful selection of goals in their first season. Off the top of my head here's some of my favourites:
1. Fantastic mazy dribble against Marseille.
2. Lovely drop of shoulder to beat Chelsea's Ben Haim and score his first at Anfield.
3. Rocket shot at 'Boro (even more impressive after slipping as he recieved the ball).
4. Magnificent dummy to receieve Gerrard's inch-perfect through ball and score at Anfield Road end against Newcastle.
5. Similar to Chelsea, drop of the shoulder and through the legs of Cerny in final game at Spurs.
6. Took Benayoun's pass and fired past Cech to give us brief hope away at Chelsea (CL).
7. Delightful delicate chip over Jaaskelainen from another brilliant Gerrard through ball in 4-0 win at Anfield.
8. Nutmegged Lucas Neill (I think) before slotting passed Rob Green to secure hat-trick against West Ham.
9. Excellent finish low into only part of net that was unguarded after Babel run stopped by James in 4-1 win over Pompey.
10. Received Kewell's pass and brilliantly lashed in vital goal to put Reds 2-1 up against Porto in CL group match.
And there were many more including 3 hat-tricks all of the highest quality.
It could be argued he didn't score enough away from home but showed in games at Chelsea (CL), Spurs, Middlesborough and Marseille that he can knock 'em in on the opponent's patch.
We can only hope that he continues this form into next season and maybe provides the ammunition to take some points off the Mancs and fire us toward the summit.
Thanks Nando and good luck in the Euro's
