you cant blame Benitez for the Morientes signing, at the time it was a bargain- a class striker for £6m, lovely stuff. the lad just never got going, simple as that. not many would have predicted Nando would fail in the Prem. i personally didnt.
my main worry is that we still havent got a good finisher at the club (we have actually just sold the best we had in Garcia). Kuyt is sporadic in front of goal, Crouch likewise, Bellamy needs 3 or 4 chances to score, and Fowler is gone....i watch a fair bit of La Liga, and i have to say if i had been manager i wouldnt have signed him. he is pretty wasteful in front of goal, and has as bad a first touch as Diggler at times. hope he can iron out those problems sharpish and utilise his talent better.
i think he needs a debut goal, if he doesnt score in his first month we could be up shit creek without a boat, never mind a paddle.
alternatively, a couple in the CL qualifier, a brace at Villa and he could hit the ground running. i have a feeling it will be win or bust in the first few games for this lad.

Decent signing. I won't write him off but I'm not too sure he's what you need (A striker yes. But not Torres). I'm just shocked you never bid for Huntelaar, he's better, imo, and would probably cost a little less.
He has a lot of developing to do to be considered top class.
Any news on a left winger?

haha. So basically two decent signings and a few bosmans and he expects to compete. You need more than that, a good left mid first off.

I'm not blaming Benitez for Morientes failure just like I've never blamed Chelsea for Sheva being a flop; I defy anyone to have seen either of those outcomes coming. All I'm saying is being top quality in one league doesn't mean you'll succeed in another and Torres isn't even top quality in Spain. He's a good striker but not great and for £27m he is way overpriced.

We better hope Benitez don't use Riise on the left wing or else we can forget about being Premiership challenger next season.I would like to sign Robinho as our new next left winger and we have Kewell in the background who is much better winger than Riise is...If we could bring in Heinze then I hope Riise only will figure as a cover for him.

Robinho is very inconsistent. His final ball can be really woeful at times.

He's young and talented (Robinho). He can develop to be more consistent and I would love to have another Brazilian in the squad.I like South American players.

Excellent move. And I feel very proud of him. He doesn't look only at the money. Is been very hard for him to leave Atletico. He's been always trying hard and pull the team, but I think that now with players like Gerrard, Xabi, Mascherano,... he'll do and be much better.
He will be the new Henry in Premiership.

a good deal for liverpool...torres is still relatively young but has good experience although the reported fee of $41 million is a lot for someone who may only contribute 15 goals a season...
liverpool need a target man, someone like crouch but better, as a foil for torres or bellamy, they would get far more success that way, with a good forward flicking the ball on for the on ruch torres/bellamy...
although many of you may not have seen him but jo who plays for cska would be a great signing...he is currently playing for the brazil u-20 squad in canada...but he young (20), quick, tall, he scores gosl with both feet although he is strongest on the left, can dribble and is great in the air...cska will ask for about $15 million but would be worth it IMO...
liverpool still need a new cb, rb/lb, lm, a playmaker and maybe one more striker to compete in all tournaments but it seems the new owners are willing to back the club...

God, I hope you're right.
Torres cost Liverpool around £20M and not £26.5M.
