Benitez: We Won't Underestimate PSV
Quote:
Rafael Benitez has warned Liverpool's players and supporters not to underestimate PSV Eindhoven when the two clubs clash in the Champions League quarter-final next month.
Having already beaten the reigning Dutch Champions in the group phase of this season's competition the Reds will no doubt be installed as favourites to progress to the semi-final.
But Benitez was quick to play down such talk and insisted they won't be taking Ronald Koeman's men lightly.
"At this stage of the competition every team is going to be difficult. We know all about PSV, having already played them twice this season, but that doesn't mean it will be easy," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"Sometimes knowing your opponents well can be an advantage but sometimes it can be a disadvantage because they'll also know all about us. We must be cautious.
"I'm sure the supporters will be happy with the draw but we don't want to make the same mistake as last year when went out against Benfica. Then, everyone was saying we'd go through but, of course, Benfica beat us home and away.
"PSV are a very good team. We may have beaten them at home but they held us to a goalless draw at their ground. They have improved since we last met and showed their quality by beating Arsenal in the last round. There are no favourites in this tie.
"Playing away from home first can be good as it means there'll be another special atmosphere at Anfield for the second leg. We are really close to the semi-final and need the support of everyone to help us make this next step. This is the most important game we'll play in the next month and I'm looking forward to it."

PSV manager disappointed with draw
Quote:
PSV coach Ronald Koeman admitted he was disappointed at drawing Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The Eindhoven boss, who lead Benfica to victory over the Reds in last season's competition, said he was dreading being paired with the Anfield side.
"Liverpool are tough. They have a few fantastic players like Steven Gerrard," said Koeman.
"If you beat Barcelona 2-1 on their own turf you are a very strong team. It will be a hell of a job so it will be important to get a good result in our own stadium.
"It is a real disappointment. I do think that all clubs are tricky, but the fact is that we already had them in the group stage.
"You want to go somewhere else - all other clubs would have been nice."

Cant underestimate them, players like Riise, Alonso & Bellamy will need to treat this game like they did the Barca games, too often those players will go through the motions in games where they are considered favourites. if we go in with the right attitude we should have too much quality for them.
we got the best draw, but we need to take advantage of it.

Liverpool will fuck up a good chance like they did against Benfica last year.To win CL you have to have strikers who scores goals. That's absent in Liverpool.

Damn you very lucky that Alex is injured, hopefully he might play in one of the games, to make it more interesting for a neutral to watch

He would because he has such a commanding presence and he would organize the defence very well.

PSV watch: More injury woes for Koeman
Quote:
PSV have been hit by news veteran defender Michael Reiziger will miss the rest of the season with a stomach injury.
The 33-year-old, who featured against Liverpool earlier in the season, is definitely out of the Champions League double-header in April.
It's the latest injury blow for Ronald Koeman's side, who are also likely to be without influential defender Alex for the quarter-final ties against the Reds.
Meanwhile, PSV remain five points clear in the Dutch Eredivisie despite an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at home to Ajax at the weekend.
