Birmingham City goalkeeper Maik Taylor is set to reject a Bosman move to Liverpool. Taylor, 36, who is out of contract, had been lined up by the Reds to be No.2 to Pepe Reina next term. But he will pen a new deal with relegated Brum, says the Mirror.

He wanted to join us last summer, he only joined Chelski cos Mourinho and Drogba convinced him to join them. With Jose gone and Didier on his way out, he won't want to stay. Good signing for us if we got him.
I would like to see us try to sign Giovanni Dos Santos for that left sided role though, long term thinking. He's available on a free as far as i know.

He's awful and he's done nothing for us. Not a thing. Completely useless, over-priced, whinging muppet. Sooner he goes the better.

Three reasons why this is nonsense:
1) Charles Itandje
2) Nikolay Mihaylov
3) David Martin
we also have Dean Bouzanis and Péter Gulácsi on our books, and we still own Scott Carson.
We definitly do not need a goalkeeper, especially a poor one like Maik Taylor.

Itandje and Mihaylov could be on a permant move away from Anfield this summer. It also seemes Liverpool are looking for a loan option for Martin as they want him to get more first team experience. Rafa seems not to have much faith in Itandje and I will predict a new second goalkeeper will be signed until the end of the summer.

Rafa Benitez is lining up a bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing. The News of the World says Liverpool will turn their attention to Middlesbrough ace Stewart Downing if they fail to land Aston Villa's Gareth Barry.
The England winger recently signed a new deal at the Riverside but a £12million move from Rafa Benitez would lure him to Merseyside.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is confident landing Espanyol winger Albert Riera. The News of the World says Riera, 26 - who was on loan at Manchester City two years ago - also looks Anfield-bound for £5m. Reds boss Rafa Benitez will use the highly-rated Argentine Sebastian Leto as bait in a swap deal.

The poll, organised by the club's website, named Ryan Babel as young player of the season with 80% of the votes, ahead of Lucas in second spot.
Another striker - Hungarian youngster Krisztian Nemeth - won the reserves player of the season award.

Liverpool wing-back John Arne Riise could be on his way out of the Premiership this summer. The News of the World says Riise is ready to snub a move to Newcastle for the lure of Champions League football next season with Schalke emerging as favourites to sign him.

Rafa Benitez is battling to hold onto midfielder Xabi Alonso. The People says Alonso has told friends he's looking to leave Anfield in the summer with Barcelona and Real Madrid waiting to sign the Spanish international.

Liverpool are launching a bid for Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar. The People says Reds manager Rafa Benitez is trying to tie Kranjcar into a deal that has already been agreed for Peter Crouch to move back to the South Coast side this summer from Anfield.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has fixed an £8m fee for Crouch, but Benitez now wants to offer his bean-pole striker plus cash to lure the 23-year-old Croatian away from Fratton Park.
Kranjcar has been playing for Pompey on the left wing, but Benitez plans to switch him onto the right with Ryan Babel staying on the opposite side.

SWISS STAR TO SIGN FOR REDS
Liverpool Football Club today confirmed that Swiss international defender Philipp Degen will sign a contract with the club on July 1.

SWISS STAR TO SIGN FOR REDS
You are screwed. Degen wasn't even part of Dortmunds starting lineup at the end of the season. He really sucks hard. I can't imagine why he was signed.
