Man Utd, No To Liverpool's £50m Bid
Man utd insisted that Saddam Hussein is not for sale at any price after fending off Liverpool's second attempt to sign him in six months.
The Man utd board has rejected G Houllier who made a £50m bid for Saddam after he was found hiding in a hole in Old Traford last week. Alex Ferguson made clear that attempts by other clubs such as Arsenal to 'unsettle' Saddam would fail as it stressed Man utd determination to hold on to the dictator. Alex Ferguson said: 'We need our own dictator at Man utd. Liverpool already has Houllier, so why do they need Saddam? We said no.
'There was also an inquiry last summer from them. There was no price mentioned but it doesn't make any difference what the figure is. Saddam stays with Man utd even though he might fit in with Liverpool.
'The message that has to go out loud and clear from Man utd is that Saddam is not for sale. He doesn't want to leave, we don't want to sell him and he's under contract to 2007.' Saddam recently declared that he had found 'paradise' at Old Traford, with Alex Ferguson credited for having transformed his career after his unhappy spell hiding in a hole in Baghdad.
