Raul quit hint alerts Liverpool
Quote:
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Raul after the Spain striker hinted he may be ready to leave Real Madrid after a glittering 11-year career.
The 27-year-old may favour joining Liverpool's Spanish contingent under Rafael Benitez, which includes former Real team-mate Fernando Morientes.
He said: "If I listen to polls in papers it looks as though I should leave. I want what is best for Real.
"If at some time I have to sacrifice myself for Real to progress I will."
Liverpool boss Benitez is determined to rebuild his squad, despite their dramatic Champions League final win against AC Milan in Istanbul.
Raul believes he has yet to peak, but has called on the Bernabeu club to tell him if he still has a future there.
He said: "If the club calls you up and says you have to go, then as a player you have to be prepared to look for a way out that benefits everyone.
"I still feel useful to the club and believe I have not reached my peak, but I don't want to be in the way. All I want is for the club to be clear with me."

pinkfootball reported this...
"Liverpool in £15m Real Madrid Raid
Liverpool are reportedly preparing a sensational £15m bid for Real Madrid legend Raul.
According to The Sun, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez wants to bring the striker to Anfield and is willing to splash out £15m on te player who has been linked in the past with a move to Old Trafford.
I didn’t think that Raul would even consider a move to Liverpool until I heard that he’d already visited Anfield four times this season as a punter – wanting to watch the reds in action.
It’s doubtful but you never know. Who would have believed, mid-way through last season, that Liverpool would win the Champions League? Anything can happen in this beautiful game."

raul would be a legendary signing for us, but i cant see it happening unless we get in the CL next season, and for 15m torres would be a better signing.

Could happen. He's already got some of his spanish mates at the club, would be easier for him to adapt with them around I guess.

Saachi denies Raul approach
Real Madrid director of football Arrigo Saachi has told skysports.com that Liverpool have not made a move for Raul.
Speculation at the weekend had suggested Liverpool have approached Real with regards to their talismanic captain.
Despite capturing the UEFA Champions League in his debut campaign in English football, Rafa Benitez is already looking at reinforcing his ranks.
With the future of Milan Baros shrouded in uncertainty, a striker remains a top priority - with Benitez reportedly considering rekindling the relationship shared by Fernando Morientes and Raul in Spain.
However, Raul - despite having not produced his best form this season and having been usurped by Michael Owen in the striking pecking order - remains a firm favourite with the Madrid faithful.
The sale of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu's favourite son would be a risky move and Saachi insists that whilst the player remains under contract he will remain in the capital.
''Raul has a contract at Real Madrid and we have not received a proposition from them,'' Saachi told skysports.com.
Fuelling rumours of Raul's departure from his home-town club are suggestions that Real have reignited their pursuit of Internazionale's Adriano.
The prolific Brazilian has been strongly linked with a switch to The Premiership and Chelsea but reports from Italy have suggested a choice from Luis Figo, Walter Samuel, Guti, Michael Owen and Santiago Solari have been offered in part-exchange.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini is a firm admirer of Samuel and it would appear that if the two clubs are to concur on a deal then the Argentine hard man will be involved.

Raul rejects Reds rumours
Raul has rejected reports that he could leave Real Madrid for Liverpool this summer.
Reports over the weekend suggested that Raul could become the latest Spanish star to make his way to Anfield to join Rafa Benitez's European champions.
It was suggested that Benitez wanted to team Raul up again with former Real team-mate Fernando Morientes in a new look attack for next season.
Raul endured a disappointing season with Real last term by his own high standards and rumours of a moves for new strikers such as Robinho and Adriano have raised doubts over Raul's long-term future at El Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish international has previously claimed he would quit Real if the club made it clear he was surplus to requirements.
However, Raul has moved to quash the speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool suggesting it would be complicated for him to move on.
“I’m not thinking about playing in England," said Raul.
"My future is in the Spanish league. It would be very complicated for me to go there.”
