He's a left winger by nature, but he can play right wing or upfront as well, and he's great in all three positions.

Alonso has been man of the match in almost all the games he's played for us! Easily the best passer of a ball in the country, arguably a better player than Gerrard.

never in a rain of pigs pudding.... everytime iv seen him play, hes looked for the killer pass and its failed to come off nine times out of 10... i dont rate him that highly and certainly nowhere near as highly as gerrard.... or even garcia....

that's possibly the biggest pile of nonsense i've seen today, sorry Ralf but you're so wrong it's not even funny.

He was amazing against West Brom, Monaco, Manure, and Norwich. By far the best player in all of those games, and our best player on Tuesday by a mile as well. 10 misplaced passes out of over 350.

Dunno what Alonso you've seen but it definitly wasn't Xabi.

He's easily in Gerrard's league, plus he's 2 years younger than him. In a year he'll be the best in the world.

like i said, evertime i have seen him play he has been awful.. iv seen him 2 or 3 times this season... against bolton he was awful and gave the ball away every time he touched it practically... saw him in europe too, againts ak graz in the 3rd round qualifier. he was awful then too....

iv not seen the other games you mention, so maybe im being a bit harsh. but i can only go on what i have seen personally.....

He had 4 misplaced passes against Bolton. It was his first game in England. He was decent against Graz.

You're judging him on two games, when he still wasn't used to the players around him, yet by your own admission, you've haven't seen him since. He's been brilliant since he settled in, and is an amazing player, like i said, best passer of a ball in England, and arguably in Europe.

Wait a second, you're saying you only say Alonso against Bolton and Graz, which would mean you only say Garcia in those two games too. He was poor in both those games!

I've seen him against Bolton, United and West Brom. I was not impressed by his Bolton display, or the 1st half against United. But 2nd half vs United and the whole WBA game I thought he was really good. Being so good so early in his Liverpool career (and in the Premiership) is good news for Benitez. Veron had a few good games at United when he first started off, but he failed to live up to expectations in the end. I don't think, or, I KNOW the same thing won't happen to Alonso. He comes from a place where you play tough, and that's exactly what it takes to make it in the Prem. Besides, he's got great skill and is a brilliant passer of the ball. We have 3 (Djemba, klebe, Miller) new midfielders that haven't yet proved any serious potential in the premiership. Alonso is doing great so far, wish he was at United instead
