Default Baros Suffers Suspected Broken Ankle

Czech Republic striker Milan Baros suffered a suspected broken ankle in this afternoon's 3-1 win away to Blackburn Rovers.

Baros was replaced by Emile Heskey after just five minutes after what seemed an innocuous challenge from Marcus Babbel, who is on loan at Ewood Park from Liverpool.

After the match Liverpool boss revealed: "I think he's broken his ankle."

He added: "He'll have an operation tonight, or maybe tomorrow."

14 September 2003 : by Paul Eaton
Carragher out for six months

Liverpool have this morning received a massive blow with the news that Jamie Carragher will be out for up to six months after breaking his leg against Blackburn yesterday.

Carragher was injured following an appalling tackle from Blackburn's Lucas Neill, who was immediately sent off by referee Neale Barry.

Liverpool's worst fears were realised today when an x-ray confirmed the Reds' defender has broken his right leg and is out of action for up to six months.

The news comes as a double blow to manager Gerard Houllier, who will also be without Milan Baros until the New Year after he suffered a broken ankle when he fell awkwardly following a fair tackle from Markus Babbel.

Liverpool FC Head of Press Ian Cotton told us: "Jamie Carragher left the stadium on crutches yesterday and was seen by our club doctor this morning. Unfortunately an X-Ray has revealed he has broken his leg and the awful news for everyone at the club is that Jamie will be out for up to six months.

"We also expect Milan Baros to be unavailable until the New Year. Milan had a two hour operation last night which went very well. He has had a plate inserted in his ankle but he's not expected back until next year."

Do Neill for assault.

Carra didn't even realise he's broken the thing.

That's why we all love him.
