Leeds have moved quickly to counteract the departure of Eddie Lewis, by drafting in Wolves' Jamie Clapham on a month's loan.

Leeds complete Clapham loan

Leeds have completed the loan signing of Wolves defender Jamie Clapham.

The 31-year old full-back is now contracted to Elland Road until 30th September.

Clapham was unable to sign in time to feature in Leeds' 4-1 home win over Southend on Saturday, but he has trained with his new team-mates.

The former Tottenham, Ipswich and Birmingham player insists the 15-point deduction Leeds incurred for going into administration during the pre-season was not an off-putting factor in his move.

"I'm here to play football for the next five weeks and I'm looking forward to it," Clapham told Leeds' official website.

"At the moment it's 15 points off the top, and hopefully by the end of September we'll be in the positives points-wise."

Manchester City right-back Shaleum Logan is interesting Leeds boss Dennis Wise. Wise is keen on the youngster as he prepares to sell Frazer Richardson to Burnley.

Davies still on Leeds United's agenda

Leeds United are refusing to call off their chase of Steve Davies despite seeing a third bid for the winger rejected by Tranmere Rovers.

Tranmere are fighting desperately to end United's interest in 19-year-old Davies and turned down a fresh approach from United yesterday, but Leeds remain confident of securing a deal before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Dennis Wise is scouring the market with increasing urgency, and Leeds are still interested in Hibernian captain Rob Jones, Blackpool defender Shaun Barker and Wolves forward Jemal Johnson.

But the sacking of Martin Allen by Leicester yesterday has left two other possible signings in doubt. United are understood to have been tracking City forwards Elvis Hammond and Matty Fryatt.

Portuguese midfielder Filipe Da Costa has agreed a one-year contract with Leeds United.

Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Einarsson has left Leeds and is now a free agent. Einarsson made 25 appearances for Leeds after moving from Lillestrøm in 2004.
