The current issue is less KPMG's ratification of the vote (which does appear to have actually passed the required threshhold, though the weekend recount is a bit weird), but rather their rejection of any claim that the Caribbean enties should have been placed in a separate class for voting purposes due to their ties to Bates. It doesn't help that KPMG's story on that appears to keep changing. At first, they said that they had no reason to believe the lenders were connected to Bates, then that they had unspecified assurances that they were not, then that they had statements from the firms and Bates that they were not connected.
Now, a week or so after the vote, it comes out that there is an explicit reference in last year's financials (which KPMG has to have read) noting a connection between Bates and at least one of the offshore lenders. So the story now is that such a connection existed but has since been dissolved, though no one seems interested in producing evidence of such a dissolution or in discussing its terms.
To me, the fact that this reference existed in the financials makes KPMG's initial position completely untenable, and should be seen as establishing a duty on their part to investigate the matter much more thoroughly than it appears that they did.
I imagine that the Revenue will be taking a similar position should they take this to court.
I'm sure the facts have not been reported completely or accurately (they pretty much never are in football finance stories), but I can't help but think that KPMG are more than a bit concerned about how this is going.

Leeds is being linked to Watford's striker Darius Henderson.
Darius didn't enjoy a great season in the Prem, bagging just 3 goals and is thought to be available for around £500,000.

Leeds hand Gardner new contract
Quote:
Leeds teenager Scott Gardner has signed a new one-year contract - and hopes to finally make his first-team debut in League One next season.
"It's a massive weight off my shoulders," the 19-year-old midfielder told the club's website.
"Being a young lad and not making a (senior) appearance, you never know what will happen - so to be offered (another) year, I'm delighted.
"Hopefully everyone will get a chance to prove themselves next season.

Leeds United have money to spend
Quote:
Leeds United look like they will drop into League One with transfer funds to spend despite having an embargo imposed after going into administration. Chairman Ken Bates has said Dennis Wise will have enough funds to launch a strong start to life in League One and the embargo will not hinder their hopes for next season.
"I don't discuss figures, and never have, but Dennis will have funds available to him, We're in limbo slightly but that does not stop us talking to players formally and agreeing deals in principle."
The Football League has confirmed that the embargo it imposed following the move into administration on 4 May was unlikely to be lifted until July.
"We've already held lots of informal discussions, and Dennis has got a long shopping list, we actually sent him away on holiday while all this was going on because there was nothing more he could do. But he knows who he wants.
"Obviously we've had a few setbacks and missed out on a few players, but that's inevitable regardless of whether you're in administration or not. It happens every year and you never get every player you try for."
At the end of last season Leeds released seven out of contract players but are expected to offer new deals to Tore Andre Flo, Rui Marques and Matt Heath once the club regain their ability to spend.

Trio in for Leeds youngster
Quote:
Leeds United have confirmed three Premier League clubs want to sign rookie defender Ben Gordon.
The 16-year-old is due to leave Elland Road over the summer after rejecting both a scholarship and a professional contract with the League One club.
The England youth international has been strongly linked with Chelsea, but Jose Mourinho's side have competition for the left-back.
Though the identities of the interested clubs were not disclosed by Leeds, the West Yorkshire side admitted three top-flight teams want Gordon.
Leeds will receive compensation for Gordon when the youngster makes a decision on his new club, if a deal can not be agreed upon.
If the defender opts for a move to Stamford Bridge he will follow former Whites youngsters Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods, who linked up with Chelsea last year.

Sullivan gone
Quote:
Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of former Scotland goalkeeper Neil Sullivan.
The former Leeds stopper had two successful loan spells with Rovers last season and featured in the club's Johnstone's Paint Trophy final win over Bristol Rovers.
Sullivan, who signed a two-year deal, said: "I enjoyed my time here in my two spells on loan and barring any problems I'll be a Doncaster Rovers player, which is something that I am really looking forward to."
Rovers chairman John Ryan added: "It's a great coup for Doncaster Rovers and I feel it shows our intentions for next season, as we bring in our third quality player to assemble a squad that will get us in the Championship.
"He almost single-handedly won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, with his incredible saves. Hopefully that trophy will be the first of many he wins here."

Kiwi U-20 skipper set for chance at Leeds
Quote:
Leeds may offer a summer trial to New Zealand U-20 skipper Jack Pelter, says the YEP.
The 19-year-old defender could be given the chance to earn a professional deal at Elland Road after captaining New Zealand during the forthcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, which begins in Canada on June 30.

Thompson open to Leeds stay
Quote:
Alan Thompson's agent has hinted the experienced midfielder could yet stay with Leeds United into the new season.
The former Celtic and Aston Villa schemer had been expected to depart The Whites following relegation to League One.
Thompson's agent Tony McGill previously stated his client wanted to play at as high a level as possible, however, he is now open to staying due to his happiness at Elland Road.
"The thing that matters most to Alan is enjoying his football," McGill told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"He was very happy at Leeds, and there's a chance he could go back there. It's early days but I've had a meeting with them and we'll see where it takes us.
"Obviously they can't pay him what he was on because they're a League One club, and if this was about money then Alan wouldn't be going to Leeds.
"But he's thought about that, and it's more important that he finds a club where he's happy."
