BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Leeds United | Relegated Leeds in administration
Am I right in understanding that the English rules allow the new entity to use a name very similar to the old one (i.e., Leeds United 2007)?
One cannot do that in Italy, as the name is considered a valuable asset for the creditors. That is why Fiorentina had to play a year as Florentia Viola and with a different badge before Della Valle came in with the cash to purchase the name back from the administrator. The same goes for cups. Torino's were scheduled to be auctioned off before Cairo bought them for the new club at the last minute.
The name and trophy thing was perhaps the single element of the entire Viola debacle that most pissed people off (even more than demotion to C2 in some way).
Having to buy back your heritage from a bunch of accountants is very demeaning.
Easier to see how Italy works the way it does as all of the major clubs (except Roma) predate the league, and a number predate the FIGC.
EDIT: - With Bates taking them in, bringing them out, and the administrators getting comfortable that his offer to do so is the best one they are likely to get on the basis that there is no opposition from the largest creditor (likely controlled by Bates).
Wow.

None of it adds up, Bates is not revealing the figures and in any case the figures that are released are bound up in companies Bates has 'links' to, so nobody is reporting where the money has gone, how much money has gone there, and what the current financial situation is.

Well there is massive rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United, big as even possibly the United vs Liverpool rivalary. Not sure about the rest of the country though

There is a big rivalry between Yorkshire and Lancashire which has led to a rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds United so that is why we hate them but simply the whole country hates Leeds because, Leeds are scum.
Scummy fans, scummy manager and if my understanding of what Bates has just done by going into Administration and then buying the club back, the chairman is the biggest scum of them all.

Also they had a right bunch of wankers playing for them a few years ago.
Bowyer, Morris, Woodgate and even Alan Smith.
Woodgate and Smith have cleaned up their acts since then.
Although the other 2 are still wankers who have been accused of rape and racially motivated attacks quite a few times.

Leeds down after points dock
Quote:
Championship, have entered administration, incurring with it a 10-point penalty.
United appointed administrators KPMG who immediately agreed to sell the club to a newly formed company called Leeds United Football Club Limited, the directors of which are Ken Bates, Shaun Harvey and Mark Taylor.
Richard Fleming, joint administrator and KPMG restructuring partner, revealed Leeds' debt totalled £35million.
Fleming told KPMG's website: "We were asked by the board of directors to advise Leeds United on Monday 30th April 2007. The club has experienced significant financial difficulty for some years and was burdened with historic debt and wage structures.
"It was necessary for the club to enter administration as its balance sheet dated 31st March 2007 indicated debts totalling approximately £35million, with a cash injection of approximately £10million required to continue trading.
"Further, Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs recently issued a winding up petition for approximately £5million. If this debt had not been paid by 25th June 2007, the club may have been forced into liquidation."
Football League rules state any club entering administration is to be docked 10 points.
Administrators understand that these points will be deducted from this year's total and not next, thus confirming the club's relegation to League One, but also ensuring, crucially, that The Whites start next season with a clean slate.
