Lazio defender under the knife Sunday 26 August, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio defender Mobido Diakhite’ will be out for four months after undergoing surgery for a fractured tibia.

The Frenchman sustained the injury during yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Torino, as his leg was trapped in a pile-up between Nicola Ventola and teammate Massimo Mutarelli.

It was immediately obvious that the situation was serious as he was stretchered off the field of the Stadio Olimpico.

Diakhite’ went under the knife today at the Mater Dei clinic in Rome to stabilise the fracture of the right tibia.

Medical staff confirmed that three metal screws were put in place and he will be released from hospital over the next few days.

The next check-up will be in one month, but he is not expected to be back on the playing field for at least four months.

mounting injury it seems for lazio.

Lazio lose Zauri to fractured ankle Friday 18 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio’s injury crisis shows no signs of abating, as Luciano Zauri will be out for two months with a fractured ankle.

The full-back, who has also played in central defence and midfield due to the lack of players available at the club this season, is a major loss for the team.

He sustained the injury during last night’s Coppa Italia match against Napoli, but the extent of the damage only became clear after tests this afternoon.

Lazio confirmed he has fractured the peroneal malleolus bone in his left ankle with a lesion to the ligament.

This is due to rule captain Zauri out of action for at least two months.

The Biancocelesti are already without Mobido Diakhite for the whole season, while Stephen Makinwa, Mourad Meghni, Fabio Firmani, Gaby Mudingayi, Massimo Mutarelli and Sebastiano Siviglia are set to miss this weekend’s Serie A encounter with Napoli.

Lazio face defensive crisis Monday 28 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio have received a serious blow with the news that key defender Lorenzo De Silvestri will be out for a month with a thigh injury.

The young star limped off in the weekend’s stalemate with Torino and a scan has revealed that the problem is relatively serious.

Rather than heavy bruising, De Silvestri has twisted the muscle and will require a long period of rest to relieve the strain.

De Silvestri’s absence could hardly have come at a worse time as the Aquile have just let unsettled stopper Guglielmo Stendardo leave for Juventus on loan.

It is now possible that new arrival Stefan Radu, who signed from Dinamo Bucharest earlier today, could be sent straight in for the Biancocelesti’s Coppa Italia clash against Fiorentina on Wednesday.

Delio Rossi now faces an anxious wait to see whether the paperwork for the Romanian’s transfer will be completed in time for the trip to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
