Cristian Ledesma spoke about the interest shown in him by Juventus these past months, stating that he never wanted to leave Lazio for any other club in the world.

"The rumours did not annoy me, but they did not please me either, also because I'm not one who wants to fly high. I'm interested in this project called Lazio..."

Ledesma did not want to leave Lazio after just arriving last year from Lecce.

"I've been here just for one year and then I told my agent to forget all about those rumours. I'm here and I' fine where I am," concluded the Lazio player.

Ledesma played 33 games for Lazio last season and scoring two goals for the Biancocelesti, thus proving to be an important first team player in the team's incredible run in Serie A.

I am very pleased at this news. These are the kind of players who are basically extinct in the world of football, one that work for their ideals and not for more money (Jimenez). Besides, at Lazio he is reunited with Delio Rossi, the man who launched his career. I hope he will be at Lazio for a long time to come.

Ledesma sets Euro ultimatum Saturday 4 August, 2007

Cristian Ledesma has warned Lazio that failure to reach the Champions League proper will see him leave for Betis.

The club rejected an offer from Spanish outfit Betis Seville this week, but the matter is not over with yet.

“Ledesma will go to Betis if Lazio do not get through the Champions League preliminary round,” explained agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito.

The Biancocelesti managed to snatch a third-place finish in Serie A last season despite their three-point Calciopoli penalty.

However, their entrance to the group phase of the tournament depends on a preliminary meeting with Dinamo Bucharest.

“Betis have offered Claudio Lotito £14m, but they rejected it as they do not want to lose a player that Coach Delio Rossi considers to be crucial,” added Ledesma’s agent.

“Cristian has refused offers from other clubs to remain consistent in his choices. Next year, though, we will have to renegotiate his contract with Lazio.”

Argentine creative midfielder Ledesma joined the Aquile in 2006 after five seasons at Lecce, scoring two goals in 33 appearances including a sensational strike in the Rome derby.

I believe this is bullshit from Ledesma's agent.

Betis have offered us 18m euros for Ledesma, if we can't get into CL, I think it would be wise to sell him too. Ledesma definitely doesn't seem like the type of player who demands playing in the CL every season, he was prepared to go down to Serie B with us last season.

As someone who has hardly any knowledge of Ledesma I would say that it's highly unlikely that Real Betis offered £14m or even £8m for Ledesma as it's a position they really don't need and their ex-Prez and main shareholder Ruiz de Lopera has eaten almost all the money from the Joaquin and Oliveira transfers and they're in debt.

If Betis were somehow to offer that much tho, I'd kidnap him, drive him to the airport and put a gun to his head until he signs the contract.

Lotito has officially rejected their bid, there is something fishy going on, but as long as Ledesma stays at Lazio, I don't really care. He doesn't want to leave, the only way he will leave Lazio is if we do not qualify for the CL.

Ledesma Viola move possible Monday 24 December, 2007

Cristian Ledesma’s agent has failed to rule out a possible summer move to Fiorentina for the Lazio star.

The Argentine has been recently associated with a Viola transfer and Vincenzo D’Ippolito wouldn’t be surprised if a switch occurred, although he’s denied rumours that he’s already been contacted.

“Fiorentina haven’t come to me for information,” D’Ippolito noted. “I don’t know whether the clubs have been in touch with each other – even if I don’t think that has happened either.

“But Ledesma is a player who [Viola sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino has always wanted. He has great faith in him and we shouldn’t forget that Corvino signed him while at Lecce.”

The South American has been on the Tuscan club’s wish-list for some time and an approach almost occurred in the summer of 2006.

“It was all called off because Fiorentina decided to sign Fabio Liverani [after his contract at Lazio expired],” added the agent.

“But now that Liverani’s contract in Florence is coming to an end, it is only natural that Corvino is looking around at his options.

“Ledesma is a player who could possibly enter his thinking, but only at the end of the season. I can rule out a January move.”

It would take some effort by Corvino to sign Ledesma though given the tough negotiating skills of Lazio chief Claudio Lotito, who will demand a significant fee for the playmaker.
