Rocchi road for Lazio Tuesday 7 August, 2007

Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi has predicted that the capital club will struggle to match last season’s Champions League qualification.

The 29-year-old spoke to the Press this morning in Fiuggi when he was questioned on the Biancocelesti’s objectives for the upcoming campaign.

“Lazio could have another excellent term, but I don’t think we can make any comparisons with last year because this time we will all be starting with no penalisations,” said Rocchi.

“We will also play in three competitions this season, compared to two last time out. Are we one of the big clubs? No, I don’t think so.

“It isn’t easy to compete with clubs who have 30 players in their squad and want to win the Scudetto and the Champions League. We are a team which always tries to improve.”

Rocchi, who is contracted until 2008 and has scored 32 times in the last two seasons, has been linked with a summer move as President Claudio Lotito has been unwilling to discuss a new contract with him.

“I am trying to behave as a professional, as I have always done,” he insisted. “The contract is the last thing on my mind.

“I am focusing on training and on the Champions League tie with Dinamo Bucharest, which is a crucial objective for all of us.

“I don’t care about the criticism I might receive. There are plenty of Lazio fans, but I don’t think there are many who could disapprove of my behaviour in this situation,” concluded Rocchi.

Default No Agreement Between Lazio And Rocchi Yet

The two parties are trying to reach an agreement on the extension of the player's contract with the Biancoceleste club.

Tommaso Rocchi and Lazio are still far away from finding an agreement which makes both parties involved happy, as the talks on the contract renewal of the prolific striker continued even yesterday, but without too much success.

The player admitted that the situation is difficult and he was pessimistic on the possibility of finding an agreement between him and the Biancocelesti.

"The situation has not changed," declared the Italian international player. "There have been no steps forward in the negotiation and it is unlikely that we will find an agreement."

In the meantime, with regards to Juan Pablo Carrizo, the club received the documents from Argentina and deposited them at Pinerolo, but it is unlikely that the player will be registered by the 31st of August.

Lazio’s star striker Tommaso Rocchi has cast doubts over his future by revealing that contract negotiations have hit a brick wall.

The Venetian hitman fired the Biancocelesti into the Champions League proper with a key brace against Romanian champions Dinamo Bucharest on Tuesday evening.

The 29-year-old has found the net 16 times in each of the last two seasons and is half of one of Serie A’s most reliable partnerships alongside Goran Pandev.

Despite his popularity at the Stadio Olimpico, Rocchi is unsatisfied with his current salary and is demanding an increased offer to keep him in the capital.

“The situation hasn’t changed,” he scowled. “There have been steps forward in negotiations and it will be difficult to come to an agreement.”

Meanwhile, the transfer of Argentine goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo looks increasingly likely to be postponed until January and Uruguayan custodian Fernando Musiera has arrived in his place.

The new man arrives as midfielder Roberto Baronio leaves the Eternal City for La Liga side Levante.

He joins a strong Italian contingent of Marco Storari, Christian Rigano’ - who completed a move from Messina last week - Damiano Tommasi and ex-Siena stopper Bruno Cirillo

Lazio president Lotito: Rocchi talks continuing
tribalfooball.com - October 02, 2007

Lazio president Claudio Lotito says talks are continuing with star striker Tommaso Rocchi about a new contract.

He said: "The negotiations are continuing with Rocchi to renew his contract. For our part, there is a will to keep him because he is a player who symbolises the spirit of Lazio.

"We'll see if we can find an agreement. In any case, he remains our player until 2009."

Rocchi contract confusion Wednesday 12 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio risk losing star striker Tommaso Rocchi after his agent confirmed contract talks have stalled.

The hitman has repeatedly complained that his deal was not renewed and a pay rise has been denied despite three sensational seasons.

“I confirm what the newspapers wrote, that I did have a meeting with President Claudio Lotito, but it only happened because I was in Madrid at the same time for another matter,” explained agent Oscar Damiani.

“There were no steps forward. Our positions have undoubtedly become closer in recent times, but nothing has been agreed yet.

“In any case, we are optimistic that these negotiations can reach a positive outcome.”

This term alone Rocchi and teammate Goran Pandev have scored 66 per cent of all Lazio’s Serie A goals.

He played in last night’s 3-1 loss at Real Madrid, although he also had a stoppage-time penalty saved.

The Biancocelesti squad flew back to Italy and medical tests have shown Cristian Ledesma only has bruising to the right knee, an injury that forced him off during the second half of that Bernabeu match.

Agent explains Rocchi row Monday 24 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tommaso Rocchi’s agent insists his future is at Lazio despite yesterday’s televised bust-up between the player and President Claudio Lotito.

Italian TV cameras caught Rocchi and Lotito have a minor disagreement after the 2-2 draw at Palermo, a tiff which has simply fuelled the transfer rumour mill.

It’s a common fact that talks over Rocchi’s contract extension have stalled and Sunday’s events are seeing the Italian linked with an Olimpico exit.

However, Rocchi’s representative has looked to cool the speculation by explaining what actually occurred at the Stadio Barbera.

“It had nothing to do with his contract at all,” Fabio Parisi noted on Monday morning. “And it’s not true that there is no good feeling between the two.

“Tommaso has said on numerous occasions that he wants to stay at Lazio and that is in the interest of club and player.

“Nothing happened at all. They talked about the game in the changing rooms and then came across each other after the match.

“Lotito wanted to continue discussing the tie, but Rocchi didn’t fancy doing that in front of the TV cameras.”

Monaco, Napoli and Genoa are all thought to be keen on landing the former Empoli player, but Parisi insists that Lazio come first.

“Rocchi wants to be rewarded for his market value and Lazio need to take into account what he can give to them,” the agent continued.

“There are negotiations going on with the club and they are continuing.”

Despite Parisi’s statement, Rocchi’s name will inevitably take up some significant newspaper column inches with the January transfer window set to open.

Rocchi makes extension demands Thursday 7 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio star striker Tommaso Rocchi has declared that he is happy to renew his contract at the Stadio Olimpico on one condition.

The talented hitman has been unwilling to commit himself to the Biancocelesti over the last few months during the capital club’s miserable start to the campaign.

However, Rocchi is now keen to stress that he has no desire to leave Rome as long as he thinks the club will return to the European stage in the near future.

“I think that my future is in Rome,” he insisted. “If I had wanted to leave to win things I would have gone by now.

“I want to stay, even if I know that it will be difficult to win a Scudetto or a European trophy here.

“But there has to be the possibility of winning something and, like this year, the chance to play in Europe in the biggest stadiums. I don’t want words - I want actions.

“I just want what the fans want. I don’t think I’m asking for the world. If the key players extend their contracts and there are good new signings then I am ready to extend my deal.”

Lazio’s best hope of a return to Europe next season seems to be via the Coppa Italia, but they first must shock Inter in the semi-finals.

Rocchi is Lazio for life Wednesday 20 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After months of agonising speculation, Lazio’s star striker Tommaso Rocchi has committed to a new contract with the club.

The Venetian hitman has carved a reputation for himself with consecutive 16-goal campaigns and has already found the net eight times this term.

Lazio have been keen to tie the 30-year-old to the Stadio Olimpico beyond his previous expiry date of 2009 and, after many breakdowns in negotiations, an agreement has been reached as he has signed until 2013.

“Lazio for life!” a statement on Rocchi’s personal website reads.

“I am very happy to have found a deal that keeps me with the Aquile for another five years and therefore for the rest of my career.

“This is what I always wanted and I am delighted because I have waited faithfully for this moment. Thanks to all the fans who have supported me and given me the strength to keep going.”

It is believed that Rocchi’s new deal will net him around £1m per season until 2013 when he will be 36-years-old.

Well it's taken a while but he's finally signed, I'm not sure about a five year contract though.
