Rolando Bianchi is all set to rise to the challenge of playing in the Premier League after becoming Sven-Goran Eriksson's first signing for City.
The 24-year-old's move to the club was finalised on Friday and after his first training session with the squad he spoke of how he was looking forward to getting stuck into life in England.

"I feel fine, I'm looking forward to this new adventure and I want to play as soon as possible," said Rolando.

"It's going to be a demanding challenge, it's a new style to me but I think I will adapt very soon. It's a very exciting challenge for me."

The striker, who scored 18 times for Reggina last season, says that the Blues' new boss was instrumental in persuading him to make the move to City.

"Mr Eriksson played an important part in my coming here. I spoke with him on the phone many times, and I like him as a person and as a coach. He explained his plans for Manchester City, they were very exciting and that's why I accepted the offer to come here."

Rolando also took the time to describe his attributes for City fans that as yet don't know that much about him.

"I've always been a good header, but I've become stronger and fitter over the last few years and I think I'm a more complete player now. At the same time I want to keep improving, both physically and technically."

I don't think the price is an issue as long as he stays healthy. He's got a dodgey knee but he's young and talented so he should do well.

Those are all Azzurri members. Donadoni will have to keep track of many players playing abroad now. I think Lucarelli is done with Azzurri now.


But i wish Bianchi well. Hope he continues to score and makes an impact in England. We'll see you soon Bianchi, hopefully playing in 2010 WC.

Rolando Bianchi thanked Bernardo Corradi and Sven Goran Eriksson for his sensational Manchester City start. “I don’t want to be a flash in the pan.”

The £8.8m signing from Reggina could not have asked for a better debut in the Premier League, as he netted the opener in City’s 2-0 win away to West Ham United.

“I am very happy, because this was an important start,” he told Italian news agency Agr. “I don’t want to stop, though, as I am very hungry for goals and do not wish to be a flash in the pan.”

There were fears Bianchi would not be able to replicate his stunning 18-goal haul in Serie A last season for Reggina, especially as in his career before that his previous best had been just two for Cagliari in 2004-05.

“I received many messages complimenting me, above all from my former Reggina teammates and President Lillo Foti. I’m happy because I have real friends there and had a fantastic year in Reggio Calabria.”

One of several Serie A ex-pats at Eastlands, Bianchi has settled in very quickly and thanks one man in particular for that.

“Corradi greeted me like a brother coming into his home. He is a great friend,” explained the 24-year-old.

“Eriksson also helped me feel at home. He is a very nice guy and uses an Italian style of training.”

Ex-Reggina marksman Rolando Bianchi admits that a return to the peninsula is possible as he struggles to make an impression at Manchester City.

The 24-year-old fired his way to fame with 18 goals in Reggio Calabria last year, but has recently been forced to accept a substitute’s role at Eastlands.

“I’m not used to being left out of the side and we will have to see what happens,” Bianchi told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“I’m from Bergamo and the only way I know is to be stubborn and work hard. I have to convince the boss to change his ideas.

“Eriksson has explained that he wants a faster striker and he seems to have been proven right by the results, but Manchester City is a test I will succeed in.”

Despite his lack of playing time, Bianchi has shown promise when given the chance with two goals in five games in all competitions.

“I have set a reasonable deadline of December for things to change and then we will have to consider options as I don’t like playing five or 10 minutes of games,” he revealed.

In pre-season, Bianchi had looked set for a move to Napoli, but the deal broke down as reports suggested that the Atalanta youth product had refused the move.

“I still ask myself what happened at Napoli and I want to repeat to the people there that I would never dream of snubbing their city or team,” he insisted.

“I have seen some strong words said on their websites and insults from Napoli fans, but I don’t think I deserve that.”

It is believed that a number of Serie A sides, including Napoli, are keeping an eye on Bianchi and could swoop in January to end his English adventure.

He deserves to be playing, he's spent enough of his career on the sidelines already.

He dosen't belong in City or any club in England. The league dosen't suit him at all. A move back to Italy seems to be his best choice.
