Monaco goalkeeper Flavio Roma admits he’d accept a reserve role if he returned to Italy for Juventus.
The former Piacenza shot-stopper walked out on Serie A to seek first team football in France and had great success.
“I certainly did hear rumours Juve are interested in me,” he told Tuttosport. “From what I can tell, Juve and Monaco have spoken to each other, but I’m not sure if it is an official negotiation process, as neither club has told me anything.”
Roma has been on the outskirts of the Italy squad, but would be only a back-up for Gianluigi Buffon in Turin.
“Let’s just say that if I really had to accept the role of understudy, there would be advantages to doing so for Gigi. At least one cannot be torn apart by doubts, as he is clearly the best,” mused the ‘keeper.
“These are situations in which it is difficult to be entirely confident of your decision. On paper the idea of wearing the Juve jersey and returning to the Champions League has its attraction, though sitting on the bench for an entire season could make me change my mind.
“At this moment in time, in any case, the idea of joining Juventus fascinates me.”
