Juventus pre-season 08/09
Quote:
Juve visit Arsenal and Man Utd Tuesday 10 June, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juventus will tour England in August for games with Manchester United, Arsenal and Hamburg.
The Bianconeri aim to test themselves severely this summer in the lead-up to their Champions League preliminary round ties on August 12/13 and 26/27.
So Claudio Ranieri returns to English soil for the Emirates Cup, where his team will take on hosts Arsenal and German side Hamburg.
Juventus meet the Gunners on August 2 at 16.15 and Hamburg the day after at 14.00. Real Madrid complete the tournament, but will not cross paths with the Italians.
While here, the former Chelsea boss will also encounter Champions League winners Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 6 for a high-profile friendly.

Well I guess they need a little time off after the Euros.
I wouldn't expect all the big guns to play anyway.

Juve tumble to Piacenza defeat Tuesday 15 July, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juventus lost 1-0 to Piacenza on Olof Mellberg's debut, while the Amauri-David Trezeguet partnership failed to shine.
New signings Amauri and Mellberg - in a central defensive position - started the match in Trento, while Tiago Mendes was in charge of the midfield.
Vincenzo Iaquinta, Hasan Salihamidzic and Momo Sissoko were out with minor injuries, so Cristiano Zanetti and Marco Marchionni were in the initial line-up.
Goalkeeper Mario Cassano performed saves to deny Pavel Nedved, Amauri and a Trezeguet header early on, but they quickly ran out of steam.
Piacenza took a surprise lead through Argentine Simon, who got in front of Nicola Legrottaglie to volley in Anaclerio's cross from the left.
Trezeguet thought he had equalised, but the goal was disallowed for an offside position.
Claudio Ranieri made six changes at the break and Serie B side Piacenza made 10, but the performance remained below par.
Among the highlights for Juve fans were teenage Swedish midfielder Albin Ekdal and Zdenek Grygera's seasonal debut.
Juventus First Half: Belardi; Zebina, Legrottaglie, Mellberg, Molinaro; Marchionni, Zanetti, Tiago, Nedved; Amauri, Trezeguet
Juventus Second Half: Nocchi; Zebina (Grygera), Legrottaglie, Ariaudo, Molinaro; Esposito, Zanetti, Ekdal, Rossi; Amauri (Castiglia), Pasquato

Started with
Buffon
Zebina Mellberg Legro Molinaro
Brazzo Ekdal Zanetti Nedved
Amauri Iaquinta
Grygera, Rossi and Trezeguet came in at HT for Zebina, Amauri and Iaquinta, and all the call ups got some playing time. Zanetti, Brazzo and Molinaro played the entire match, so they probably wont play as much vs Borussia Dortmund in 3 days.
We won 2-1 btw. Brondby hit the post twice. The crossbar off a header, and the post from a Legro giveaway. The 2nd half was pretty boring.

Pretty decent actually. His passing was simple yet effective, and he didn't make any costly errors. He's pretty tall as well and wasn't afraid to wrestle with the opponent for the ball.
Ekdal is listed as a part of the 1st team on Juventus.com, not under the primavera section. Also, when the players were presented to the fans/media at Pinzolo, he was showcased as a part of the 08/09 Juventus 1st team, with the primavera already lined up behind the senior squad. Add to that he hasn't been loaned out yet, and it does raise some questions about how Ranieri views him.
