Giovinco to stay at Juve Thursday 29 May, 2008

Juventus fantasista Sebastian Giovinco will remain with the Bianconeri next season, according to his agent.

The 21-year-old, who spent the year on loan at Empoli, has been one of this season’s revelations and is in demand.

“Giovinco has a fan in my son,” Claudio Pasqualin explained to Teleradiostereo. “So, I would not mess him about by telling him lies.

“He will be at Juve next season. The Bianconeri want him to stay.”

Giovinco could not save Empoli, who were relegated from Serie A, despite scoring six goals in 35 appearances for the club.

“Moving back to Juventus would be an important opportunity for Sebastian to develop his career,” added the representative. “I don’t expect him to be sold.”

The tiny talent was wanted by Palermo as part of a deal brokered with Juventus for Brazilian striker Amauri – who should finally sign a five-year contract on Friday.

The Bianconeri, however, were quick to extract the youngster, known as the ‘Atomic Ant’, from any negotiations.

Juventus prodigy Sebastian Giovinco is ready to return to Turin after a season on loan at Empoli and is setting his sights high for the coming campaign.

The Azzurrini superstar made a name for himself at the Stadio Castellani last term with his impressive performances for an Empoli side that were banished to Serie B.

And now Giovinco has been brought back to base, he has silverware on his mind.

“I have returned to Juve to try and win on all fronts,” he explained on Sorrento’s Golden Goal.

“Victory is in the Old Lady’s DNA and we will fight to succeed in every competition.

“I am hoping to stay at Juve and I will try and do my best, just like I did with Empoli last season, and then I will also give a little bit more.”

Giovinco concluded with his thoughts on new signing Amauri, who finally completed a move from Palermo last Friday.

“Juve are used to having great champions,” he stressed. “He will be given a warm welcome and I’m sure that he will fit in very well.”

Juventus are preparing a bumper contract to tie gifted young playmaker Sebastian Giovinco to the club until 2013.

The diminutive Azzurrini ace is seen by many as the heir to Alessandro Del Piero and could be a crucial building block for Juve's future.

After an excellent season at Empoli on loan and impressive outings with the national side at the Toulon Tournament and the Olympic Games, Giovinco has done enough to convince the Bianconeri's directors that he deserves a new deal.

Yesterday, Juventus directors Alessio Secco and Jean-Claude Blanc met with Giovinco's agents Claudio Pasqualin and Andrea D'Amico.

However, the player himself was away with Pierluigi Casiraghi's Under-21 side preparing for Friday's European Championship qualifier against Greece in Castel Di Sangro.

But a deal is on the horizon and important first steps have been taken towards a contract agreement.

“We share the same intentions,” Pasqualin said. “Generally we are on the same page, but we haven't sorted out the numbers yet.

“Both sides understand that we are dealing with a diamond that will shortly shine with al its splendour.”
