Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has claimed that Azzurrini star Domenico Criscito would favour a return to the Rossoblu.

The international played for the Grifoni last season on a co-ownership arrangement before signing a contract with Juventus in February.

“I spoke to Domenico a few days ago and he reiterated that he would like to return,” said Preziosi on Tuesday, when Genoa started their pre-season training in Pegli.

“If Juventus were to decide to let him leave I am sure it would only be for him to join us,” added the chief.

Criscito had revealed after the Under-21 European Championship that he was hoping to be given regular playing time next season, either in Claudio Ranieri’s squad or at Genoa.

“I heard that Giorgio Chiellini is asking for more space at Juventus. I hope Criscito will grant his wish,” concluded Preziosi.

However, Rossoblu Coach Gian Piero Gasperini is already pleased with the club’s new signings so far and is confident ahead of next season in Serie A.

“There is great enthusiasm and that motivates us. I like the team at my disposal, I think we could do well even without any further additions,” said the tactician.

Lol. I guess we should take his word for it than. I hope we loan him to Sampdoria now.

He's not going to Napoli then.

Unsettled Juventus defensive starlet Domenico Criscito has spoken out against rumours that he is set to join newly-promoted Napoli.

The 20-year-old stopper spent last season with the Vesuviani’s Cadetti rivals Genoa and impressed as the Grifoni secured a place in the top flight.

However, after the Old Lady’s summer investment in the defence, it had been suggested that Criscito may join his hometown club to ensure first-team football.

“I don’t know anything about it,” he claimed. “I read about my interest in joining Napoli in the newspapers.

“I’m delighted if the Azzurri want me because they are my city’s team, but I know that Juventus want to hold on to me and have already refused an offer from Genoa, so they believe in me.

“There’s no reason I’d be more likely to find a place at Napoli,” he concluded. “Claudio Ranieri doesn’t pick his team by people’s faces. Those who deserve to play will, and I will compete.”

Agent: Criscito stays in Jan Thursday 13 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus stopper Domenico Criscito isn’t on his way to Fiorentina, according to agent Sandro Gedda.

The 20-year-old defender excelled in Serie B for Genoa and is regarded as a huge prospect, but he has struggled to find space in the Old Lady line-up.

There have been rumours that Fiorentina were ready to swoop in January after experiencing a recent defensive injury crisis, but Gedda denies this talk.

“Honestly, I haven’t ever had any contact with Fiorentina for Criscito,” he told Viola Gol

“There is no news and I think that Juventus will want to keep hold of him as he is a quality player with a big future.

“He will certainly stay in January and there is an agreement in place for June that Genoa get first refusal if he is sent out on loan.”

Criscito explains Genoa joy Friday 4 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Domenico Criscito has returned to Genoa on loan from Juventus and is delighted to be back.

The Azzurrini defender started his career with Genoa before Juventus bought a 50 per cent share in him 2004 and his full rights last January.

Having impressed in Serie B in the 2006-07 campaign, the 21-year-old had hoped to play a prominent role for Juventus this term, but he started just eight games and has returned to Marassi to gain experience.

“I’m happy to be back,” the Neapolitan stopper declared. “I want to thank Juventus and Genoa for agreeing this deal in my interests.

“I still feel very strongly attached to the Rossoblu jersey and I feel at home here. I owe so much to this club where I grew up and was launched as a player.”

Criscito remains under contract with the Old Lady until 2011 and will return to base in the summer.

Well at least he'll be getting some regular playing time in Serie A.

Smart choice. With the way Legro/Chiellini have been playing, there is no room for rotation. Even with injuries, Ranieri would probably choose Grygera over him.

He's been pretty poor when he's played and no doubt his confidence is shot.

He will stay on loan at Genoa next season. Genoa will pay us €1m for the loan deal.

In a way I'm gutted because I'd like to see him develop with us, but evidently that just isn't going to happen...

He isn't good enough yet.

The way Totti turned him last season was laughable.

Yeah, but in fairness people have made more of that mistake than was necessary. He just didn't read that situation or anticipate it very well...

He doesn't lack ability it's all about learning, which he'll do at Genoa as he'll get the games. Which is fair enough I suppose.

I agree. My point was he needs the experience elsewhere, he just isn't ready yet.
