Inter are ready to offer £6m plus Andreolli on loan next season for Almiron.

He is a good player and he has proved well for Empoli this season! Wherever he goes they will get a great player! Though I wouldn't have minded him also coming to Milan, good move by Inter!

Almiron would be helpful, and a decent backup and future replacment for Vieira, as I expect the big oaf to be with us for one more year.

We suck at bringing in players slowly. Almiron is good but he could be one of those players who are a bust when they move to a big club

I don't think Mancini should be painted with this brush, since he has done a fabulous job with the younger players.
Burdisso was a bench player for so long, and now is a frontline player. So its hard to say.

I'm not blaming mancini for this at all. Similar to pizzaro's arrival. The idea of course was that he was a super sub and then starte since veron would end up leaving but didn't show enough promise so we went and bought vieira.
Now that I think about it, we are much stronger in the midfield, for the reason that we are good at covering positions. We have played some big games with our reserves and almiron is by no means a reserve. He just needs the goatee to be veron. Identicle.

You bring up a whole can of worms. Pizarro was not the right player for our team makeup, Veron was half decent.
At the moment we need someone who can play with Cucho and Vieira, if J. Zanetti continues to play in the midfield, then your probably right.
I was just saying that Mancini has been very good at breaking in new players into the lineup.
Maicon, Ibra, Maxwell and even a lesser extent Grosso have been alright.
If Almiron comes, then I feel Mancini can handle the situation in breaking him in....that is if Mancini is around.
Having said all of this, there is no need to get a CM starter only a backup, we are fine in that area.

Ciro played a weird trick on Juventini today. He went on TV saying Almiron was a Juve player. Seeing the hysteria it caused amongst the media and fans, he said he was only joking. I havent seen him do that b4, which leads me to believe a few things.
In any case, it shows Juve are interested.

Yeah, we're definitely interested.
In fact we're the only team to actually make official contact with Empoli over him.

Empoli coach Cagni admits likely Almiron sale
tribalfooball.com - March 19, 2007
Empoli coach Gigi Cagni admits midfielder Sergio Almiron is likely to be sold in the summer.
Speaking after their 3-1 defeat by Lazio last night, Cagni said: "We'll treat his case in the same way as Francesco Tavano's last summer.
"He will be allowed to move on should the right offer arrive."

Empoli president: Almiron's Juventus deal not closed - yet
tribalfooball.com - March 21, 2007
Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi insists Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara was only "joking" when he announced last weekend that Sergio Almiron had signed for the Bianconeri.
Corsi said: "I believe that Ferrara was joking at the time as no negotiations have been concluded. Juventus is the only club that has shown a genuine conviction to sign the player, but saying he is already in their hands, to me, seems exaggerated.
"One thing is certain: Almiron will leave at the end of this season."

The rumour is he has agreed terms with Juve, but the clubs havent. However, I remember reading he wants to go to Inter, probably because of all the south americans.
