With one game left in the season...Del Piero could potentially win the capocannoniere as he has 19 goals, tied with Trez and Borriello.

I don't believe Del Piero has ever one the title before, has he? Being 33 yrs old and leading the goal scoring charts really speaks high volumes of the season he's having.

It's official. Del Piero is the league's top scorer with 21 goals, and the only player after Paolo Rossi to win back-to-back Capocannoniere crowns in Serie B and A.

Congrats to Ale...Del Piero showed his class by letting Trez score the penalty the last game as well. Very well deserved for Del Piero. Glad to see some of the veterans like Totti, Del Piero etc win the title at their age and beat out the youngsters.

Yeah, he's had a phenomenal season.

And it's quite an achievement at his age really.

Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has won the 2008 Gaetano Scirea award by a landslide margin.

The prize is handed out each year to the player who journalists believe serves as an example for how to behave on and off the field.

Last year Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi won the 16th edition of the award, which takes its name from one of the greatest Italian players of all-time.

As well as being one of five players to win every national and international trophy recognised by FIFA, Juventus legend Scirea was renowned for his sportsmanship and dignity.

Del Piero received 281 votes for this year’s title, leaving him easily clear of Roma’s Christian Panucci on 35.

Veteran striker Vincenzo Montella and fiery Inter stopper Marco Materazzi received just 19 votes each.

Great player, but unlike most players these days, a true role model as well.

What a return to Europe. 4 nicely taken goals has him atop the scoring charts alongside Messi, Gerrard and Berbatov.

Legend.

The standing ovation from the Madrid fans says it alll. He got the same thing in a pre-season friendly vs Utd at Old Trafford. Great player, with the humility and class to match. Not to many players can play at this level at 33.

Apparently only 2 other opposition players have received standing ovations at the Bernabeu. Maradona, Ronaldinho and now Capitano!
