PAVEL NEDVED - Sign's extension!
Quote:
Pavel Nedved has assured fans that he won’t be hanging up his boots despite earlier hints at a retirement and praised Liverpool.
The 2003 Ballon D’Or winner has been struggling with a succession of injuries this season, including concussion, head trauma and a recurring ankle problem, and had suggested several times that if the pain continued he would bow out this summer.
“I am still enjoying my football and training,” he assured in a television interview with ‘Stadio Sprint.’ “I want to continue my career with Juventus and have no intention of giving up now.”
Nedved joined the Bianconeri for £25m in July 2001 and the former Lazio star has just added another Scudetto to his CV. Fabio Capello made an instant impact on the Turin giants, though his disagreements with Alessandro Del Piero are growing.
“I know exactly why Capello is a winning Coach,” smiled Nedved. “I understood it almost immediately, but I don’t want to reveal his secret and will keep that one to myself.”
The Italian football world is still reeling from Milan’s Champions’ League capitulation to Liverpool, losing a 3-0 lead in the space of six minutes and going on to a penalty shoot-out defeat.
“It’s a shame for the Rossoneri, but at the same time I am happy for Liverpool as two of my fellow Czechs Milan Baros and Vladimir Smicer are in the squad. They deserved this triumph.”

Good to have Nedved next season but Moggi must begin to search for a replacement to Nedved during the next season...

Nedved unsure of future
Quote:
Pavel Nedved says he doesn’t yet know whether he will retire or not when his Juventus contract expires in 2006.
The Czech ace has always insisted that he intended to hang up his boots once his present agreement ends.
But the former European Footballer of the Year is now ready to continue if his body allows him to.
"I’ll still be playing next season but it is far too early to be talking about an extension to my contract," he stated.
"We’ll have to see how I am doing physically, even if it is my intention to do everything I can to give my best."
Nedved, who will be 33 in August, has just finished the campaign with his fourth Scudetto but the midfielder is hungry for a different title.
"I’m happy with this term because we were able to end the season with a smile on our face," he said. "Not too many people believed we would win it but we did.
"However, I really want the Champions’ League and I’ll look to win that trophy next year.
"The European Cup is a dream but also an obsession for me because it has always eluded me.
"We have a great amount of desire to triumph in Europe but so too do other clubs. Hopefully luck will be on our side next time."

It's all dependant on the Champions League. Channel 4 don't highlight it enough, but Neddy is absolutely hooked on winning the Champions League before he retires..to be honest, when Liverpool out-defended us from the competition - people were saying Nedved was past it from his performances soon after, I believe this was just the stress he experienced after realising the trophy had evaded him once more, who can forget his tears in the 2003 semi-final? If he wouldn'tve been suspended, Juventus would have beaten Milan in the given 90 minutes that I am sure.
His contract expires at the end of next season, if Juventus are European Champions at the end of it. He will retire without question to leave in a hail of glory. If we fall short yet again, I think he may extend for another season to try again..who knows though? During his injury problems this past year, he hinted towards hanging them up after the Cagliari game..
Anyway, in a nutshell - it all depends on European success. Oh my God is he OBSESSED by that competition. FURIA CEKA!

Nedved has always maintained that he needs to win the CL to make his career complete.

Nedved offered Juve extension
Italian champions Juventus have offered Pavel Nedved a new two-year contract at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
Nedved had previously claimed that he would retire when his current deal expires in the summer of 2006.
But the 32-year-old has admitted that he may decide to play on with the Bianconeri if he feels fit enough.
"Juventus have offered me a two-year contract extension but I have to consider it carefully as it is a long time," he told Pravo.
"However, I will think about it because I have no injuries and I'm able to play for some years to come.
"But anything can happen in one month. I really don't want to hurry this decision."
The former European Footballer of the Year is also remaining cautious about a possible return to international football.
"I still haven't talked with Coach Karel Bruckner about it," continued the midfielder. "There is no change."
Nedved retired from the Czech national side after the 2004 European Championship Finals.

It's good for Juve but I'm not convinced he'll last all that time given his recent injuries.

I think you're right..he will stay for 2 more seasons if we fail to win the Champions League in the next. This is his only remaining ambition.

Nedved and Thuram extend
Italian champions Juventus have today extended the contracts of both Pavel Nedved and Lilian Thuram until 2008.
The pair were previously tied to the outfit until 2006, but they will now remain at the Stadio Delle Alpi for an extra two seasons.
Nedved, a former European Footballer of the Year, had previously stated his desire to retire next summer.
But the Bianconeri have convinced the Czech Republic star to continue his career with the European giants.
Former French international Thuram had also hinted that he could hang up his boots at the end of the 2005-06 campaign.
However, he has been rewarded for an exceptional season with a new deal despite his 33-years-of-age.
The pair both arrived in 2001 and have won three Italian championships and two Italian Super Cups since.
