Default Nedved in retirement hint

Quote:
Czech Republic ace Pavel Nedved does not envisage seeing out his contract with Juventus.

Nedved has been at Stadio Delle Alpi since 2001 and is under contract with the Italian champions until 2008.

But the 33-year-old playmaker has suggested that he will be retiring from football before the completion of his Juventus deal.

There have also been whispers that Nedved could quit after next summer's World Cup finals and he remained coy about that possibility.

"Possibly," replied Nedved when asked if the World Cup would be his last major tournament.

"But let's see what happens.

"I still have two-and-a-half years on my contract in Juventus, but I don't believe I will fulfil it."

Nedved has recently returned to the Czech fold after a year in international retirement and played a role in seeing off Norway in a World Cup play-off.

The success hands Nedved the chance of playing in the World Cup for the first time in his career and it is a date he intends to keep.

He added to Idnes: "It is logical [that I will go to Germany if I am fit].

"I am one of the older players and I thought that I would never play in the World Cup finals.

"But now I am very glad we are not the lost generation and that we will be there."

I think he can still play at a top level, albeit not with Juve. Its really unfortunate that some of these older players refuse to help smaller teams out. Damn right shameful.

Hasn't Baggio taught us nothing?

The only reason why Baggio went to a small team in the first place is because your team wouldn't even play him. I am sure he would of been usefull for a big club even late in his career, I still remember him singlehandedly beating Juve at Delle Alpi with Brescia.

Nedved is still a Juve starter, so why should he even thinking of joining a small club when Juve show him the proper respect by starting him?

I think your wrong, true he aint the same he was when he won the Ballon D'Or, but he is still usefull and with him and Mutu alternating, I dont see anything wrong, but I heard rumours that once Nedved is gone for good, that Meghni will fill his shoes, I hope so, his style of play reminds me of a Zidane before hitting his prime.

As soon as Nedved retires, let him play on a regular basis with his current team and then once Nedved retires, he should be mature enough to play for us.

That's right, instead of packing it up with his "tail" between his legs, he went to a small club. Hopefully Nedved will do the same, as I feel he can still contribute, but he's not Italian, so its a non issue.
