It has emerged that Juventus veteran Pavel Nedved is in talks with Japanese outfit Jubilo Iwata.

Nedved’s future is unclear as the 35-year-old’s contract in Turin expires at the end of the season.

There were reports earlier in the season that the Czech international would join FC Tokyo for around £4m and now it seems that he has another Japanese suitor.

“At the moment we are talking to Juventus about Nedved,” Jubilo Iwata President Yoshio Mabuchi revealed on Sports Nippon.

“We hope to have everything sorted within May.”

Three-time champions Jubilo have made an indifferent start to the 2008 season in the J-League and are looking to add foreign talent to a squad with 33 homegrown players.

However, their plans to lure Nedved may be thwarted if the Old Lady opt to offer the former Lazio man another season in the Bianconero shirt.

£4m at his age is great for him...he probably could of made around the same for Juve, but to each their own.

He makes £2.8m a year at Juve, so he would making alot more playing in an easier league. However, I think another crack at the CL may be more appealing for him.

I thought he was up in the mid £3...he can still compete at a high level...but financially, how can he turn that down...especially at his age.

Unless he was taken out of context, that's a pretty clear indication he plan's to retire this summer.

His affectiveness is not the same as it was, I think retirement is in the best interest of him and the club, considering all the young guns Juve have.

They will also sign big now.

Hopefully Giovinco is the replacement. In hindsight, we could have used him this season.

Well Jager, I don't know if we will sign "big", I mean, we can't even sign Flamini on a free and we still have Secco pulling the strings. But, Nedved was good for us this year, and he should be used as a sub next year. His mentality is great for any team and I will be sad to see a Juventus side without him.

I prefer Giovinco to share time with Del Piero. Seba is better in a more central role where he can roam more freely and bring more people into the game.

Back to Pavel. He is my favorite Juventus player and it will be sad to see him go. I hope he stays, but if he decides to hang up his boots, we can only thank him for giving absolutely everything he had to give.

This is great news. He is still a useful player, and it would be extremely difficult to find someone with similar qualities.

Nedved is still a quality player that can compete in Italy. He's still got plenty of gas in the tank to contribute. Juve will be in the CL next season and they will need the experience of Pavel.

Any news on the salary?

Glad that he stayed in Italy and didn't sell out and go play in Japan or the MLS. Once he tastes the CL again, he will know that this was the right decision.

Just goes to show the type of person Nedved is. He stayed with us in serie b and now he rejected a move overseas where he would be making twice as much.
