Chiellini at CB is something a midtable club might try....not Juve.

untrue, all his strengths seem to point u in that direction. i like him, but its frustrating to watch him go on these shitty runs down the side, especially when he is given the nod over balzaretti.

Mate...Juve are too big to take risks on playing a fullback that is poor at going forward yet still can't defend consistently at centre back.

its not a risk imo. we have switched are lb's and rb's around constantly. We even put a midfielder as a rb (blasi). its not outside juve's nature to put chielleni as cb (which isn't a huge change) based on the points above.

Switching fullbacks is very different to centrebacks. Like the difference between cosmetic surgery on your ears and laser surgery on your eyes.

what about putting a midfielder as a fullback lol? thats not a risk?
this all boils down to chiellini being a good defender, but shitty going up. play to his strengths ie: dont put him as a fullback. especially when balzaretti does a better job.

Exactly the same sort of risk in fact. An entirely unecessary one.
Chiellini's reading of the game leaves a lot to be desired, unless he can improve dramatically he would be no more than a Boumsong type lacky for Cannavaro and tbh Kovac would be a better option.

agreed, he hasn't surpassed the "potential" phase yet and turned into some1 world class. he is still young though, who knows.
