I can see Pasqual getting a good shout at a wing-back spot next season, given that blind auction goes our way.
Knowing Viola though, they'll probably throw €10 in the pot, stingy bastards.

I actually don't see any reason to get Pasqual seen as we have both Chiellini and Balzaretti who can play LB along with Zambrotta. If we need anything then it's possible a RB but really I'd like to see us focus on other areas of the team.

That's beside the point. Fact is we've bought out Arezzo's share, so it's probable we'll make a move for him. Competition for places is never a bad thing.

I know we now own half of him but we already have plenty of full backs with Zambrotta, Chiellini, Balzaretti, Pessotto, Birindelli and even Blasi.

Blasi isn't a fullback. Please tell me you didn't buy that, we may aswell have Moggi himself play there than Blasi.

He isn't naturally a full back but he has experience there after this season so if we were really desperate he could do a decent job there.

Seriously, you're happy he does a 'decent' job there?

If he had to fill in for a game or two I would have no problem with it because he was very solid when he played there this season.

no offence to chiellini, but ive always thought he was shit going up. looks very uncooridinated when he try's to attack. he is an amazing defender though. chiellini as a LM isn't right. not good enough to play there.

It's funny because I feel almost the complete opposite.
To be honest though I'd take Balzaretti over Chiellini for the left back position and play Zambrotta at right back. Balzaretti is slightly more conservative but in my opinion Chiellini is a better attacking option.

No, azzurri's right. In Chiellini we compromise offence and athletisism playing him there, he seems to tire after the 70 minute mark.
To be honest, I was happy we snapped big Giorgio up from Fiorentina but he doesn't seem to want to improve past that 'good prospect' stage, Balza another season permitting will permanently leapfrog Chiellini in pecking order.

play chiellini as a cb, sub for canna's position. good defensively, can get physical and is tall. he is suited for the job imo.

I honestly can't see that working. I mean he's never played CB before and his defensive abilities are questionable in my opinion. We need to sign someone to be backup to the main two.

it will work because he is a solid defender. going from lb to cb is easy. only difference is u dont have to attack as much, which is good because chiellini is shit going up. he never turns out anything productive. balzaretti is a much better option. play to their strengths.

Defensively he doesn't read the game as well as Balzaretti does though. I've seen Chiellini play countless times and it's become clear that it's his defensive skills that he needs to work on most.
