Default Juventus Calciomercato Thread

Juventus, Fiorentina and Palermo are battling for the signature of former Triestina top scorer Dino Fava.

The hitman topped the Serie B Capocannoniere charts for most of last season with a total twenty-two goals.

This summer he returned to his old club Varese as the Serie C outfit placed a higher bid in a blind auction.

However, as his contract expires next June, Varese hope to sell him for a tidy profit to one of the big clubs.

Juventus are still looking for an understudy to David Trezeguet and seem to have fallen behind Inter in the chase for Bologna’s Julio Cruz.

26-year-old Fava would be willing to sit on the bench and bide his time in the bright lights of Serie A.

The Bianconeri would also clear room for the new arrival by loaning Uruguayan youngster Ruben Olivera to Parma.

But Juve have competition from the two Serie B clubs with the most ready funds at their disposal.

Palermo have snapped up several top flight stars already this summer, including Eugenio Corini and Luca Toni.

Fiorentina have also come forward in the last few days to make their interest in Fava known.

all i heard was what most know about him being 2nd highest goal scorer last season in serie B and he is 26 years old.

personally, if he joins or if he doesnt, he wont make a huge difference.

but i think Moggi is trying to free up a non EU spot in the team and zalayeta may be the one to be sacrificed, so a striker is definately on the list before the season starts.

Default Davids Set To leave Juve Next Summer

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has all but admitted Edgar Davids will leave as a free agent next summer.

“Davids can go where he wants at the end of this season,” confirmed the transfer guru. “He will be free to do whatever he pleases.”

The club has been in bitter contract negotiations for several months, but the Dutchman has always refused to sign a new deal.

It was reported, and confirmed by Roma President Franco Sensi, that he has agreed a free transfer to the Capital next summer.

A move to the Giallorossi was already proposed a year ago, but collapsed due to Juve’s veto.

“I would not rule out Davids joining Roma next season,” conceded Moggi, “but it will only be once this campaign has concluded. He is in our Champions’ League squad and we intend to use him.”

Therefore the Bianconeri are shooting down any claims of a January switch while they can still earn some money from the £10m-rated midfielder’s sale.

“He can sign for Barcelona, Roma or whoever he wants, but our objective is to make the most of Davids while he is here.”

The former Ajax and Milan star was not even on the bench for Sunday’s 5-1 Serie A win over Empoli and it was reported he was dropped as punishment for the contract wrangling.

“Davids is a great champion and he was only left out because Coach Marcello Lippi considered him off form right now,” insisted Moggi.

Davids will help Roma tremendously if they succeed in acquiring his services.

davids has been great for juve but at the age 31, when he leaves us, he must move on, especially when juve has appiah and maresca at the club now.

roma seem to have attracted him very well, but i feel that Chelsea could pay him more with the russian tycoon at the club. but then again, with makelele and lampard there, davids really isnt needed as much.

i dont see united nor arsenal going for him as they would not want a 31 year old player in their future plans, especially since united bought players for that position and vieira is at arsenal.

i would love to see him play for ajax again to be honest. who knows, maybe a van der vaart-davids swap could be on the cards

united nor arsenal will go for him. maybe liverpool could use him, but i think if a team such as ajax went for him, he would rather join them as they still play in the CL and he started off there.

when davids wanted to play in the EPL, it was with united as he followed them as a boy. but with kleberson, djemba, butt and keane still there, davids wont join one would think.

if he joins Roma, he is joining juves rivals, roma and juve hate each other. Davids wouldnt be liked by juve supporters anymore and may struggle a little.

well, if davids was 27 or 28 y.o., he probably would go for him. but currently, it wouldnt be right to buy him IMO. i mean you have four players for those positions already and they are all younger except Keane.
