Default Capello waits, on new look Juve

Quote:
Fabio Capello insists that it may be some time before he has any clear idea about the look of the new Juventus.

The Bianconeri have been in training since Saturday but the tactician is still without his international players or future signings.

"I have a lot of ideas but they are all in my head for now, as I still haven’t got the whole squad at my disposal to try things out," he stated.

"I’m waiting for a few new faces and the players who were on international duty during the summer.

"This squad is already competitive but why shouldn’t we try to make it even stronger?"

Juventus are in negotiations for Emerson of Roma, Lazio’s Massimo Oddo and Marek Jankulovski of Udinese.

But Capello feels that the side’s most important signing is the decision to extend David Trezeguet’s contract.

"Ever since I got here I’ve had an impact on what we are doing on the market. Take Trezeguet for example, I really wanted him to stay and he’ll be our centre forward," he added.

The former Roma boss was also asked whether Juventus could play with a three-man defence next season.

"It is too soon to tell," he explained. "At the minute all I will say is that Lilian Thuram will play in the centre."

Who will be Juve’s main rivals? "Milan will still be the team to beat," he noted. "Inter are making some interesting signings but they will change their system. We’ll see what happens."

That makes two of us. Maybe he'll prove us wrong, but I think Trez will be one expensive bench warmer, by mid season.

Fabrizio Miccoli is happy with the way he’s started the new season at Italian giants Juventus.

The attacker netted twice in a 4-0 friendly win over Salice Terme at the weekend as he looks to impress boss Fabio Capello.

"I was aiming to give my very best from the start in a bid to convince Capello of my abilities," said the Italian international.

"Until my legs started to feel the tiredness I was very happy with what I did on the field of play. At times it can seem as if I’m lazy but that is not the case."

Miccoli is hoping to shine in order to see more first team action this season after his part-time role in the last campaign.

"I love to play football and it is my hope to return to the player I was at Perugia," noted the 25-year-old.

Miccoli is set to be in competition with Alex Del Piero for a starting shirt, even if he’s open to the idea of playing on the wing or behind two strikers.

"I’ve been used in a wide variety of positions in the past so I’m happy to do whatever is required," he concluded.

Miccoli, he might thrive under Cappello. Time will tell, but Cap can handle the young players. Lippi prefers the experienced players, from what I've seen.
