Well he's cheaper than what Mourinho would have been.

Fabio sets 2010 target Monday 17 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabio Capello has given his first Press conference as England manager and set his sights on meeting Italy in the Final of World Cup 2010.

The former Juventus boss begins his new job on January 7 after signing a four-and-a-half year deal worth around £6.5m last week.

“I have wanted this job for a long time and I know that there are great expectations that go with it,” Capello told the gathered journalists.

“My dream is to lead England to the World Cup Final in 2010 and to meet Italy there.”

Capello spoke via a translator, but he is planning to improve his English so that he is able to communicate freely before England’s February friendly with Switzerland.

“I am convinced that in a month when the squad meet up for the first time I will be able to speak English,” the 61-year-old explained.

“I believe that it is very important to communicate with players and I will undergo a strict routine to learn the language – I will apply myself every day.”

As for turning around the fortunes of an ailing side, Capello believes that the attitude has to change.

“I’m going to try and understand what happened by talking to the players,” he said.

“I believe that wearing the England shirt should be a matter of pride – I want to see all the players playing for their country like they do for their clubs.”

Lippi feels Capello loss Monday 17 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcello Lippi is disappointed that Fabio Capello will never lead Italy and fears that the language barrier may be a problem in England.

Capello was unveiled as England manager this week and has insisted that this four-and-a-half year role will be his last in football.

“He has always said, even years ago, that he wouldn’t be interested in coaching Italy,” Lippi said on Sky Sport Italia.

“I think that it’s a shame as we have missed out on something great.

“Now his most difficult task is to make a team out of a side that haven’t seemed like one over the last few years.

“They have players in their squad who play at the highest level and win competitions, so why can’t they do it for their country?

“But, the national side is more than just picking the best players from a country Sometimes you need to leave out great players who can’t work with those in their long shadows.”

The World Cup winning boss was himself in the frame, but he has always stressed his reluctance to work abroad and recently turned down the Birmingham City job.

Lippi signed off with a warning to Capello that he may struggle if he is unable to succeed in his plan to learn English in two months.

“The fact that you need to speak English is one of the reasons that made me turn down three or four offers from clubs there,” he explained.

“I have always said that a boss must try and speak to his players from the heart and to do that via a translator is impossible.”

Shame he went to England, I was hoping that somehow Bayern would manage to get Capello next season..

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.
"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

FA calm Capello storm Wednesday 16 January, 2008

The FA has issued a brief statement insisting that Fabio Capello’s tax situation isn’t a matter for concern.

Reports emerged in Italian newspaper Il Giornale that the new England manager was under investigation in Italy for holding off-shore accounts, which he used to avoid paying taxes.

Capello’s son Pierfilippo has admitted that a review of his father’s accounts was taking place, but has played down the significance of the probe.

It seems that the FA are also keen to calm the media frenzy surrounding the tactician who has been in the post for less than a month.

“It is our understanding that the Italian authorities are currently following a procedure of looking into the finances of a number of high-profile individuals,” a spokesman said.

“We have spoken to Fabio and his advisors about today’s newspaper reports in Italy and they have explained the facts.

“They have also given us their assurances that Capello’s tax payments are in order. The FA have no further comment to make on the subject.”

Capello’s first engagement as England boss is February 6’s friendly against Switzerland.
