He's not a regular anymore though, given the chance I reckon he'd move.

Maresca scored a last minute penalty as Sevilla drew 2-2 at home to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup.

Maresca wasn't playing because he demanded that Juande Ramos play him in one of their games which Ramos refused and dropped him for the next few games to show him who's boss.

Unfortunately for Maresca the Poulsen - Renato combination in the centre works wonders and he can't find the form to get back into the side. Renato was injured in the Barca game and Ramos chose Marti to start over Maresca against Donetsk.

Good thing for Maresca is that he came on and scored the penalty equaliser on the 88th minute to save Sevilla from losing, so we might see some more of him soon.

Sevilla will face Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Sevilla have Maresca to thank for their place in the last eight after he scored in each of the two legs against Shakhtar in the previous round.

Both Milan clubs want Maresca.

Quote:
Milan and Inter could clash in the transfer market again as they both try to lure Sevilla midfielder Enzo Maresca.

The two city rivals have reportedly made contact with the Spanish side in the hope of negotiating a deal for the 27-year-old.

Having started his career in Milan’s youth side, Maresca made his full senior debut for West Bromwich Albion before returning to Juventus in 2000.

However, he failed to cement a regular place in the side and after three co-ownership deals was sold to Sevilla for just £1.7m.

Unlike several other Italian exports, Maresca has thrived in Spain and is a fans’ favourite at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Inter’s offer is allegedly greater than Milan’s, with a figure of around £5.3m being suggested, but sources say that Sevilla won’t be satisfied with anything less than £7m.

After Milan’s controversial attempt to snatch David Suazo away from Inter at the 11th hour, both sides remain tight-lipped over their bids.

Maresca is class but would not be a starter at Milan or Inter. At Milan he would likely be Pirlo's backup

Exactly, and at the moment you don't really have a backup to Pirlo.

He's versatile enough to play alongside him as well though.

He was on quality form at the backend of this season and would be a great buy for whoever gets him. Fantastic balance of attacking and defensive qualities and he's played in all 3 big leagues but if he moves then I'd like to see him move somewhere where he'll start.

Both sides are large enough, that he will play, maybe not regularly, but enough.

He is another option, I like the player, being abroad for so long, well I'm not sure if that is good or not.

Di Vaio was half decent, then he left the country, now look what happened to him.

You can't compare him to Di Vaio.

Maresca is in his prime and has been playing fairly regularly for Sevilla in the seasons he's been there (something Di Vaio was missing out on).

Quote:
Inter are closing in on Sevilla midfielder Enzo Maresca after the former Juventus man stated that he was ready to return to Italy after three seasons in La Liga.

The Nerazzurri have reached an agreement with Maresca but still need to strike a deal with the Spanish club, who value the former West Bromwich Albion star at £5m.
