I know, and that's the problem.

Before players didn't have to move abroad to earn a superstar living but transfer fees and wages are now more of an issue. The current situation with Bianchi is a perfect example in my opinion.

Toni and Grosso's teething trouble Tuesday 17 July, 2007

Luca Toni and Fabio Grosso’s international adventures got off on the wrong foot, as both players have already suffered injuries.

Toni is the new star at Bayern Munich, but picked up a knee injury during his first friendly test with the German outfit.

An Albstadt player clattered into the former Fiorentina man and he will be out of action for at least 10 days.

This means Toni will miss out on Saturday’s League Cup encounter with Werder Bremen.

Olympique Lyonnais signing Grosso is yet to make his debut, as he is suffering from lumbago and has been left behind while his teammates tour China.

It is believed that new Coach Alain Perrin would like to experiment the World Cup winning left-back in a central defensive position for Thursday’s friendly against River Plate

A central defensive position?

I'm not sure about that...

Fabio ignores French flack Tuesday 15 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italian international defender Fabio Grosso continues to receive harsh criticism in France, but he isn’t letting the Press get to him.

The World Cup winner left Inter for a new adventure at Lyon last summer for a fee of around £5m and he signed a four-year deal.

While life with Les Gones hasn’t been smooth sailing for Grosso, who has regularly come under fire in L’Equipe, the former Perguia man insists that criticism doesn’t faze him.

“My career is a rags to riches story. I have risen from the bottom to the top and I have never listened to what people say,” Grosso told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lyon are running away with the French title for a seventh consecutive season, but Grosso has been called upon to play a slightly limited role.

“I like to attack. At the start of the season we were more open, but now we are a different side and I go forward less,” he admitted.

“But, at the end of the day, football is a team sport and when the team wins I am happy.”

Grosso won't quit Lyon Saturday 28 June, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fabio Grosso has no intention of returning to Italy just yet, as he wants to “win the Champions League with Lyon.”

The Azzurri left-back was one of the stand-out performers for his country at Euro 2008, prompting rumours he was on his way back to Serie A.

“Fabio will certainly remain at Lyon,” explained his agent Danilo Caravello on Goal.com.

“The club wants to win the Champions League and will therefore reinforce the squad. They have no intention of weakening their potential by selling a player like Grosso.”

His Serie A career has been shaky at best, as he impressed when at Palermo before becoming the revelation of the 2006 World Cup.

Grosso had already sealed a transfer to Inter when that tournament began, but lasted only one season with 23 League appearances and two goals.

The 30-year-old also notched up six Champions League games and six in the Coppa Italia during 2006-07.

In his first year at Olympique Lyonnais, Grosso has won the French title.
