Cassano to join Inter next season I believe...
Quote:
Reacting to reports yesterday that after starring in Sunday's 1-1 draw, he had spoken to Mancini about joining him at Inter next season, Cassano said: "I do not understand all this clamor. Mancini and I have a relationship that goes beyond mere football events, as I have repeatedly stated.
"What we said at the end of the game has nothing to do with my work, but this is just a dialogue between two friends."
|
Apparently a mic picked up Cassano telling Mancini after their recent match that we will see each other soon.
Recent form has made this likely for Mr Cassano. Considering our lack of form in regards to creativity, this sort of makes sense.

Another forward?
I'm not sure that's the way to go, you need someone in midfield.

I just read that Crespo would be willing to play for Roma. Cassano has been in great form.
So, i dunno. Sell Crespo to Roma & buy Cassano?

Do Inter own Crespo or is it still a loan from Chelsea?

I'm almost sure he is on loan from Chelsea and that the loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
But even then they still own Zlatan, Adriano, Suazo, Cruz, Recoba, Barlotelli, etc....

They'll probably either sell or loan out Recoba though. Cruz will also play his last season for Inter I believe. Adriano is a lost cause, I don't think Mancini will ever bring him back.
Which leaves you only with Zlatan, Suazo and Balotelli as the long term solutions. I'm not sure if Cassano would fit in well at Inter though, can he play behind the strikers in the Figo role ?

I think the bigger question is whether Cassano and Zlatan can play on the same team in harmony.

Good point, 2 massive egos, the size of San Siro.
Ibra has a star status in the team, I don't think Mancini will want to change that and potentially unsettling Zlatan, so signing someone like Cassano is indeed a big risk.
But in football you just never know, it could work out fine

Cassano can play in the Attacking midfield role.He certainly has the qualities and vision. But he's more lethal up front though.I think both can work. We've seen 2 massive ego's before on a team work.Although which would be the finisher and which would be the provider? Both seem to be more of a Second striker or the link up man.Albiet Zlatan is more prolific upfront.

Cassano at Inter would be a good match, I think. He's got that creativity you need, and I would say the AM role is more suited to him anyway, which is where he can utilize his vision and the like.
Crespo I think was a strange transfer - I'm pretty sure he had a two year contract with Chelsea when Inter took him on a two year loan, bit of a Moratti miracle that one, eh? If what I remember is right, Crespo can go anywhere at the end of the season, on a Bosman.
Adriano, at this point, can't not be considered a lost cause, and Inter have been trying to get shot of Recoba for a while now. Cassano's versatility in playing both up top and at AM could be handy to Inter.
But then, the harmony threat. They both have their egos, but that's been worked around a hundred times before, and as two professionals, at the end of the day they should be able to cope in the same team in spite of their egos. Perhaps Cassano's time in the desert, and the prodigal son's return to Italy may have softened his ego up a little, no? He seems more light-hearted and humoured, in a more down to earth way.

But again, if this is the case then Inter are trying to solve their problem of lack of creativity in midfield by signing what is essentially a forward.
Cassano can play there, I just wouldn't trust him there for an entire season.

This rumour is very strong in Italy at the moment. Cassano can play the AM midfielder role, and that is exactly where he will play.
After this year, I see Adriano and Crespo gone. That leaves two roster positions to fill, and we'll lose Cruz next season.
I think this deal makes a lot of sense to be honest.

At the very least he'll join Sampdoria.
imo Inter will be bad for him, he needs a club that depend on him and for him to "feel loved".
Zlatan and Cassano will work (look at the Tevez/Rooney scenario). The only problem is both are abit nuts.
