Inter suffered a night of humiliation as they were obliterated 5-0 by Barcelona in the annual Gamper Trophy.

The tournament is held every year to honour Joan Gamper, one of the Blaugrana’s founder members, and since 1997 has been a single match.

A vast crowd of 90,000 filled the Nou Camp and a second string Inter side looked out of their depth from beginning to end.

The hosts fielded a far stronger side in a bid to imitate the 4-0 hiding they gave Bayern Munich last year.

Adriano played what may be his last game for the Beneamata and new signing Portuguese Under-21 Pelè made his debut.

Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’o were introduced at half-time to make up the ‘Fantastic Four’ with Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry and the Italian champions continued to struggle.

Messi set up Andres Iniesta for a fourth and former Milan target Thiago Motta completed the rout with 11 minutes remaining with the punch-drunk Biscione delighted to hear the final whistle.
