OFFICIAL: Figo staying at Inter
Quote:
Moratti hails departing Figo Tuesday 1 May, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter chief Massimo Moratti has admitted that it will be very difficult to replace the departing Luis Figo. “He represents pure class.”
The Portuguese star has reiterated his intention to quit the San Siro club in the summer having signed a contract with Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad, although the fans and the President hope he might change his mind.
“I still don’t understand why he took this decision,” said Moratti.
“However, it will not be easy to replace him because he represents pure class,” added the Nerazzurro, who was also questioned on Alvaro Recoba’s future.
“In El Chino’s case I think we can talk and see what his intentions are. We might be able to convince him to stay.”
Meanwhile, Coach Roberto Mancini looks ahead to the next match with Messina, who he believes will be difficult opponents.
“It will not be an easy match at all. After all, they will play with great calm because they have nothing to lose,” said the tactician to Inter Channel.
“ It will also be very hot, but our objective will not change, we will try to do well, as usual.”

The only reasoning I can think of is he wants to branch his name in unknown places where soccer isn't as popular. If he did do it for money -- I wouldn't be surprised as what he did to Sporting was a slap in the face, And that type of person has no dignity.
I'm not taking anything away from him as a player but sometimes the ego gets to you and now you see Inter are in desperation mode.

He did it for the money. Why else. If he can make tons of cash moving there, good for him. He's thinking of his family and future Figo's in future generations.

I always thought Figo would finish his career with Sporting -- like I said, big ego.
Ronaldo, Quaresma would do that if they had the chance to play for a team that developed them.

Who knows how long he will last next season. He may not like it. He may even pull a Beckham and go to MLS. I would love him in Toronto

It was for the money, it's as simple as that.

Figo is apparently a big businessman, I think its real estate??? Not sure though, don't qoute me on that.
So the cash might be important to what he wants to do for the rest of his life.
If Deco comes, then I'm not going to shed a tear on this, I wish him the best.
At times his crosses were just the thing of legend. I hope he can do that in the Coppa.

It will be sad to see Figo leave after the Coppa Italia. He has done great things for Inter. Shame he is approaching the end of his career. He will be missed in Italy.

I'm not sure he will be "missed", he really lacks a lot of class on how he screwed up some teams, and back stabbed clubs.
However, when on, he can really deliver, this I do know first hand now.

Figo is a fantastic player, but he puts money over the rest. This transfer to Al-Ittiahd doesn't surprise me one bit.

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."
Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

I will miss him at Inter. He is a pleasure to watch. I could care less of his back stabbings of other clubs. Why should i care. He still shows class when he's on that pitch. That's why Moratti is desperate he will change his mind and stay with Inter.

That's his personal decision in which he feels will benefit him. Cassano totally back stabbed Roma when he walked out, but he left because he though Madrid would be a better place for him. I'm not mad at him. I have nothing to do with Inter or Roma, i'm a fan. The only people who should care that Figo is leaving are the players of Inter, and management. So, how can a fan criticize a person for trying to better his financial situation. Would you leave your present job if you could be paid more doing the exact same thing? I would in a heartbeat.

In a way I'm glad he is moving on, it forces the issue. He helped up this year, now we can do something in the summer, and maybe get Deco.
I can only hope.
