Suazo: I only wanted Inter Wednesday 11 July, 2007
New Inter signing David Suazo has claimed that he never had any doubts about which club he wanted to join this summer.
The Honduran was at the centre of a tug-of-war between the Nerazzurri and city rivals Milan, but the Rossoneri then ended the feud by pulling out of negotiations when the striker’s desire was clear.
“I have to admit that I never considered the idea of not being an Inter player next year,” Suazo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I was calm and my agent Giovanni Branchini did all he could to reassure me,” added the former Cagliari man, who is in currently back in Sardinia with his new club for their traditional pre-season retreat.
“The problem wasn’t that I didn’t feel like a Milanista, the fact is that after the end of the campaign I only knew about the possibility of joining one club and that was Inter.
“I didn’t choose between the two options, Inter followed me, wanted me and were there when I needed a turning point in my career. I had only thing in mind, I wanted Inter.”
Coach Roberto Mancini was one of the player’s greatest supporters and reacted furiously to the news that the Diavoli were on the verge of signing the Rossoblu star.
“The tactician always stated that he appreciated my characteristics and that he would have been glad to welcome me, even before I signed. That was enough for me, I was even happier than him,” said Suazo.
“To be here means a lot to me, this represents the beginning of my second life as a footballer,” concluded the prolific hitman.

“David Suazo is, however, just as much of a great signing as Henry. He is the striker who perfectly completes the Nerazzurri attack. He is not just formidable when he bursts forward at speed, he has other qualities too and Roberto Mancini saw that.”

'Innocent' Suazo's UEFA ban Tuesday 16 October, 2007
Inter have reacted angrily after UEFA handed David Suazo a one-match ban despite video evidence suggesting he did not elbow a PSV player.
The Honduras striker was sent off after the final whistle of the 2-0 Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven when a linesman maintained Suazo had elbowed Carlos Salcido.
Inter lodged an appeal against the red card, as video evidence seemed to show the two players had merely bumped heads.
“The risk was a three-match ban if it had been adjudged a violent act,” explained President Massimo Moratti.
“They have discovered that nothing happened and yet their rules still want them to inflict at least a single suspension.
“I think it would show far more common sense to admit it was a mistake and end it there. In any case, I am sorry for Suazo and he will get the opportunity to play in Serie A.”
Former Cagliari hitman Suazo will be suspended for the trip to CSKA Moscow on Tuesday October 23.
This was not Inter’s only disciplinary problem today, as the Curva Nord will be closed down for the October 31 match with Genoa for offensive banners aimed at visiting Napoli fans.

Every time i saw Suazo sitting on the bench at Inter, i couldn't help to wonder what could of been if he joined Roma. Sure, he won a Scudetto with Inter, but in terms of his professional career..it didn't help. Financially it did...but not in terms of maturing as a player.

But that was always obvious, he must have know he was just a squad player before signing.
He's done alright all in all, Cruz and Zlatan have kind of stolen the show though in terms of goals.

He's not really young.
I'm mixed on the season he had, but I can't really judge at this stage.
Balotelli has emerged as number three, ahead of Sauzo and Cruz.
This is a good problem for Inter, and a bad problem for Sauzo.
Having said this, I think his added dimension is more than worthwhile to have on the team. With all the injuries Inter has had, its really hard to judge who plays well with who??
Cruz and Ibra play well.
But Sauzo was brought in to run at defenses, when the club had the lead. Thus far I think I need another season.
Crespo should leave, and Balotelli to take his place.
