ROME, June 23 (Reuters) - The tug-of-war between AC Milan and city rivals Inter Milan over the signing of Cagliari striker David Suazo ended on Saturday, when Milan announced they were withdrawing their claim on the player.
"Having learned that the player had already signed a contract with Inter, Milan have pulled out of negotiations," read a statement on Milan's website (www.acmilan.com).
The face-off between the Serie A giants began last week, when Cagliari president Massimo Cellino, frustrated at the slow pace of earlier negotiations with Inter, said he had decided to sell Suazo to Milan.
Milan announced the transfer had been completed. Inter hit back, however, saying the player had already signed for them.
The 27-year-old Honduras international scored 14 league goals last season having developed into one of the most dangerous strikers in Italy.
In the 2005-06 season he scored 22 Serie A goals for Cagliari, breaking the club record of 21 league goals in a season that former Italy international Gigi Riva set in 1970.
At the Italian Football Oscars in January this year, Suazo shared the award for best foreign player in Serie A with Milan's Brazilian playmaker Kaka.
The tussle is sure to fuel a simmering feud between the two Milan clubs, whose rivalry was intensified by Inter's league title and AC Milan's Champions League triumph last season.
An anti-Inter banner unfurled on AC Milan's open-top bus during their Champions League celebrations also added spice.

It looks like he's off to Inter then.
Probably the better move for him in the end.

Suazo to Inter for sure now. Not sure it's the better move for him, he's pretty low down the pecking order I would imagine. But a good bench player he is

Well other than Zlatan I think he has as good a chance as anyone else in playing, especially given Adriano's recent problems.

I think whoever shows more promise in pre-season in training and/or friendlies will get the start.

This situation is getting more complicated.

FIGC: Suazo risks six-month ban
Saturday 23 June, 2007
David Suazo risks a six-month ban after signing a contract with Inter before the clubs had reached an agreement, warn the FIGC.
“Both Suazo and Massimo Moratti said that a contract had already been signed,” noted Mario Stagliano, the former Vice-President of the Federation investigative committee.
“If that is the case, then even if it was torn up later, the crime was admitted by both parties and so a punishment is applicable.
“According to the regulations, the player and the President must be suspended or face some form of sanction. The maximum ban is six months.”
The Nerazzurri confirmed that they had penned a personal deal with the striker even though Cagliari had not formally sold him yet.
So when Milan came in and secured a £10m transfer with the Sardinians, they found him already promised to the other side of the San Siro.
This morning the Rossoneri officially pulled out of the agreement with Cagliari because of that personal contract, but the matter could well not be over with yet.

Look, this is really simple.
Do you remember the failure to get by that crap side Valencia? Where we clearly dominated?
Well the number one reason for the failure was that we lacked speed.
Actually, the number one criticism for Inter is they lack speed. They sold Martins, and they lost that speed.
Now with Sauzo, they can get that speed back, and much more in my opinion.
Sauzo is much more talented than Martins with the ball.
He gives us more options now, to play different formations, and pressure defenses.
Imagine us having a league, and sitting back. We put this guy on, and he keeps the opposing players honest.
Sauzo was underpriced in my opinion, if he was Brazilian or Argentinian he would be MUCH more expensive than he is. His Italian experience is invaluble.
Was this signing important, not really in the grand scheme of things. We still need an AM, but this was a good deal in the sense that Adriano can't hold a "gun" to our heads. If he does stay with the club, we are not forced to play him, and Mancini won't if he isn't playing.
Actually, if Sauzo plays well, he will start ahead of both Crespo and Adriano.
Can he play with Zlatan??, absolutely. Both can play off each other's strengths and weaknesses.
In the last few years, have been gold for players. Maicon and Maxwell prove this. I have no doubt in my mind that Sauzo will impress. His game is simple, only if he becomes lazy, will he fail.

Inter new boy David Suazo was unveiled at a Press conference today and spoke of his delight at finally becoming a Nerazzurro.
After a dramatic saga that saw city rivals Milan try to poach Cagliari’s Honduran marksman while he was visiting Inter officials, Suazo finally put pen to paper on a four-year contract to complete a dream transfer.
“Once the season was over, Inter were the only side in my mind,” he told assembled journalists at Inter’s Angelo Moratti training centre in Appiano Gentile.
“This is an amazing new adventure for me. Nothing will be easy, but I’m convinced that with everyone’s help I can continue to improve and do well.
“I’d like to thank everyone in Sardinia for making me feel so welcome in my eight years at Cagliari and President Massimo Cellino, who was fantastic to me.”
The 27-year-old striker was also willing to discuss the controversy surrounding his transfer after seemingly being set for Milan just a week ago.
“I had come to visit Inter, with Cagliari’s permission, and to get a certain call at midnight was strange. I asked myself what was going on.
“My agent reassured me and then talking to Marco Branca calmed me down,” Suazo explained. “Now, thank God, I’m here and the new chapter can begin.”

Smart ass.
I think looks like class. Curci is going to piss his pants with Ibra and Sauzo running ram rot over that piss poor Roma defense.
