Right, adding Drogba to the equasion would mean 442 would be highly expected, although Mourinho generally loves his central midfielders. He stuck to 3 in the centre at Chelsea the whole time, and when not playing that, he's usually got 4 in there.

I think Mourinho will go for a 433, similar to the one he played at Chelsea in his first season, mainly due to the fact that he renewed with Figo and wants to bring 2 other wingers (seemingly Quaresma and Mancini).

Perhaps:

........Zanetti........Cambiasso
................Lampard
Quaresma.................Mancini
.................Zlatan

"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

That is exactly what he wants to do. Basically add creativity to a very physical side. If this does materialise, it should be very beautiful to watch.

Cucho and Il Capitano are no "cement boots" either meaning, they can even add more creativity to that formation.

You might not like us, but I think Europe will appreciate our football or at least I hope.

Or I could be reading JM wrong?

Lampard in the Italian press has recieved a lot praise for being simple in his game, but highly affective. Very good passer, and doesn't fuk up or give away the ball much.

That would be a very formidable team and one to be feared very much in the CL.

no, no. I'm not sure what is going to happen, but what the player is saying and what Scolari is saying are two different things.

If he wants to leave, he will leave. Simple as that.

I don't see Chelsea holding him against his will. He is a hero of their club, that would be a no-no.

Lampard never wanted to leave he was kind of being forced to and now Scolari is saying that he won't leave meaning either a deal has been made between Lampard and the Chelsea board or it just means he won't leave this season.

They both seem to be saying that Lampard won't leave, but Lampard has been saying that for a long time now, the fact that the manager has come out and said it has really encouraged me because that means he should be part of next season's team as he has the backing of the manager.

"I'd just like to make the situation clear,” said agent Steve Kutner in an official statement.

"Felipe had a very amicable chat with Frank, who told him he always envisaged ending his playing career at Chelsea football club.

"He also told him that unfortunately terms for a new contract cannot be agreed with the board, despite discussions having been ongoing for over two years.

"This, coupled with everything that happened to Frank at the end of last season, means his position remains completely unresolved."

To me, this is very simple. Lampard seems to be indifferent, and this is a fair compensation issue, or what he feels he deserves.

Scolari making a statement, says that he wants the player. To me it makes very little sense for Lampard and the board to all of a sudden to kiss up and make up.

I don't think that you can say that he is indifferent...he has always said that playing the football has always been his number one priority so leaving the contract talks till the end of the season when he is also on holiday means that it will be tougher to agree terms.

They will only "kiss and make up" if Scolari says he wants Lampard (which he has done) and the Board wake up and actually give him a gd contract.

THE SUN: Frank Lampard and Chelsea are at war after an amazing six-hour wrangle left the midfielder on a knife-edge. New Blues boss Big Phil Scolari insisted Lampard is staying. But SunSport can reveal club owner Roman Abramovich has refused to sanction the new five-year deal Lampard is demanding.

DAILY MIRROR: Frank Lampard is poised to quit Chelsea after going to war with Luiz Felipe Scolari. The furious midfielder accosted chief executive Peter Kenyon over new boss Scolari's televised claims that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge. Also: Ramon Calderon has boasted to Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal that Cristiano Ronaldo has already signed for Real Madrid.

DAILY MAIL: Jose Mourinho tried to wreck Luiz Felipe Scolari's first big day as Chelsea manager by making a £7.9million bid for Frank Lampard. Inter Milan put in their first concrete offer for the England midfielder yesterday afternoon after Scolari had insisted Lampard was staying at Stamford Bridge.

THE TIMES: Chelsea turned down an £8million offer for Frank Lampard from Inter Milan last night, but relations between the England midfield player and his club remained strained after a turbulent 24 hours. Luiz Felipe Scolari found himself at the centre of the row in his first media conference in England, with Lampard denying his new manager's claims that he had committed his long-term future to Stamford Bridge.

THE GUARDIAN: Luiz Felipe Scolari feels his Chelsea squad is too big and despite his assurance that Frank Lampard's departure would not be the first step towards trimming it down, the midfielder's future remained uncertain last night. The new manager insisted that Lampard is happy and intends to stay but Internazionale and their manager Jose Mourinho, who worked with Lampard at the club, have made the England player their priority signing and submitted a 10million euro (£7.95million) bid for him last night, which Chelsea immediately rejected. Also: Official confirmation that Sri Lanka will tour England next summer has sparked a wholesale rebellion by Sri Lanka players because of a direct clash with their commitments to the Indian Premier League.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: Frank Lampard was last night on the brink of leaving Chelsea for Inter Milan after an extraordinary training-ground confrontation with Peter Kenyon, the club's chief executive. As the Italian club came in with an increased offer of £8million - which Chelsea said they would reject - it became abundantly clear that the England midfielder was far from happy.

DAILY STAR: Frank Lampard's contract row with Chelsea erupted into open warfare last night. New boss Big Phil Scolari had promised Lamps he would get him the five-year contract he wanted - so he could end his career at Chelsea. Also: Ramon Calderon insists Real Madrid have already netted Cristiano Ronaldo.

DAILY EXPRESS: Frank Lampard is ready to quit Chelsea after a row with chief executive Peter Kenyon. Lampard has privately accused Luiz Felipe Scolari of misrepresenting his words after the Chelsea boss said yesterday the player had told him he was happy to stay at the club. Also: South Africa coach Mickey Arthur has stoked up the Test series with England by suggesting the spectre of Andrew Flintoff will haunt some of the home players this week at Lord's.

THE INDEPENDENT: He may have only referred to himself yesterday as the ''So-so'' One - rather than the Special One - but Luiz Felipe Scolari made it clear that he will take a ruthless approach to culling Chelsea's squad with up to six players set to leave this summer. However, Scolari insisted that he does not want Frank Lampard - or Didier Drogba - to be among those and said that the midfielder had told him that he was ''happy'' and wants to stay at the club for ''many years''.

Chelsea said Tuesday they had rejected an approach from Inter Milan aimed at securing the transfer of England midfielder Frank Lampard to the Italian champions.

The English club said in a statement that they would not "enter into any discussions" over a transfer of the 30-year-old, who has less than a year on his contract left and has been linked to a possible reunion with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, now in charge of Inter.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was due to give his first press conference as the club's manager from 1200 GMT on Tuesday with the future of Lampard and want-away striker Didier Drogba set to top the agenda.

Sky Sports:

Quote:
Inter Milan chief executive Ernesto Paolillo has insisted the Serie A giants have not given up hope of signing Chelsea's Frank Lampard this summer.

England international Lampard has been strongly linked with a transfer to Giuseppe Meazza as former Blues boss Jose Mourinho plots for his debut term in charge of Inter.

Chelsea have clearly indicated they have no plans to sell the 30-year-old, even though they could lose Lampard on a free transfer at the end of next season when his current contract expires.

Inter recently failed with a £7.95million bid for the midfielder's services, however Paolillo has hinted the club could be set to make an improved offer before the end of the transfer window.

"We will see how things evolve in the next coming days," Paolillo said.

"But that is not to say that the negotiations are over.

"Anyway, we have made sure we have a competitive team even without Lampard."

Meanwhile, it is widely reported that the Italian giants are expected to complete the signing of Sulley Muntari from Portsmouth on Saturday.

Wouldn't had thought Inter would want both Muntari and Lampard.

The club have stood firm that Lampard is not for sale this season and I'm sure he won't leave this year. He is on the preseason tour so I can't see him leaving. Plus with Muntari on his way there wouldn't that ruin the plan a bit...and be a bit of a waste of money?
