I hope Napoli and Inter can come to an agreement on this. It would help solidify Napoli for Serie A and give both players an opportunity to revive their careers.

He won't be at Inter no matter what, so I would say this is going to happen sooner or later, even it means we loan him out for a season.

There is no room up front for him.

Recoba wanted in Spain Monday 13 August, 2007

Atletico Madrid have renewed their interest in Inter flop Alvaro Recoba, who is also a target for Napoli and Torino.

The Uruguayan seems on the verge of leaving the Italian champions, as he only appeared sporadically for the Nerazzurri last season and is eager for more playing time.

Recoba, who has a deal until 2008, was already eyed by the Liga outfit earlier this summer, when President Massimo Moratti stated that he was prepared to let him leave on a free transfer.

The Madrid outfit are now reportedly ready to meet the player’s salary demands, but El Chino recently said that he would prefer to stay in Italy.

If that remains the case then Napoli is the most likely destination for the 31-year-old, although he is a reported target for Torino as well.

Recoba, who joined the Nerazzurri in 1997 and was once one of the highest paid players in world football, had hinted in July that he might return to play in Uruguay.

Meanwhile, Napoli might make a move for Parma man Domenico Morfeo if their bid for Recoba is unsuccessful.

The former Inter and Atalanta man could leave the Ducali after being sent home last week for disciplinary reasons and missed the two Trofeo Colombino friendly matches in Spain.

Parma: Adriano no, Recoba yes? Friday 24 August, 2007

Adriano has reportedly turned down a loan move to Parma, but Inter teammate Alvaro Recoba could take his place.

The Brazilian had been on the verge of completing the temporary transfer to the club where he had really made his name from 2002 to January 2004, scoring 23 goals in 37 Serie A games.

It is claimed the two sides had already reached an agreement over the terms, but Adriano rejected the proposal, as he hopes to stay at Inter and challenge for a place.

The negotiations continued and it is now suggested that the deal remains with one small difference – the name on the contract is Recoba.

The Uruguayan is very low in the pecking order at San Siro and would be able to prove himself with regular first team football at the Stadio Tardini.

Parma would pay £670,000 of Recoba’s £1.5m per season wages and the clubs are now waiting for his verdict.

Failing that, the Gialloblu have also expressed their interest in Victor Obinna, who is at Chievo but partly owned by Inter.

Genoa have sold Brazilian marksman Adailton to Serie B sleeping giants Bologna.

The 29-year-old became a Verona hero between 1999 and 2006 when he made over 100 appearances for the Mastini and found the net 24 times in the last two seasons.

The ex-Parma man joined Genoa last summer and scored 11 times in the Grifoni’s promotion campaign despite a recurring injury.

It is believed that Adailton was hoping to get a chance to make his mark in the top flight in the coming season and was reluctant to leave even when he knew he wouldn’t be a regular in the first team.

The fee is yet to be announced, but is expected to be less than £1m with the new man set to be presented at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara later on Friday afternoon.

Recoba signs for Torino Friday 31 August, 2007

After two days of intense talks, Torino have officially completed a loan swoop for Inter’s Alvaro Recoba.

The Uruguayan, nicknamed El Chino, has rarely played consecutive games for the Nerazzurri in recent times due to persistent injury troubles and questionable commitment to training.

Despite his obvious talent, the 31-year-old has found himself a long way from the Beneamata’s first team and has opted to finally leave the San Siro for a season.

“The documents were signed this morning by Inter Vice-President Rinaldo Ghelfi and technical director Marco Branca and Torino President Urbano Cairo to agree the transfer on loan of Alvaro Recoba,” an official statement read.

Recoba arrived in Italy in the summer of 1997 and made 261 appearances for the Italian champions. It is the second loan spell of his career as he spent January to June 1999 with Venezia.

The sides are set to review his future at the start of next season, but it may be that Recoba’s Inter days are over.

With this announcement it is now almost certain that Adriano will remain in Roberto Mancini’s squad until January.

He's reunited with Novellino, what a surprise.

If he remains healthy, Torino are a menacing threat now in the sense, they will be a little bit more difficult to beat.

I wish him the best, he is no longer Interati, but he is still a nice man.

El Chino claims that he is happy in Turin, but he won’t make any decisions on the future.

“Here you can work quietly and I have a good chance of playing,” he declared.

“I’m here until June and then we will have to see. I know that I can return to Inter or I could stay here at Torino.”

He'll stay at Torino, there is really nothing to discuss.

I'd like to hear Moratti's thoughts on this.

I think Moratti has had very little to say in terms of transfers. I know you say this with your tongue in your cheek, but I really feel Mancini is in charge of transfers and player movement. This is evident to me.

Things are slightly different now than they were say five years ago, I'd agree with that.

But make no mistake, Moratti see's the team as his and he'll make his opinion heard one way or another.

No doubt about that, but I think he knows he has made some really foolish transfers in the past.

Having slipped down the hierarchy at San Siro, Recoba is enjoying the chance to play regular football and hit the net twice against Roma in last night’s Coppa Italia clash.

“I’m staying at Torino until June and then we will see what the future holds,” Recoba continued.

“I have been in Italy for more than 10 years and I would like to be close to my family. My dream is to finish my career at Danubio – the club where I started out.”
